First of all, It is important to clarify that my family and I are hispanics. And that I have never written anything of this nature (Because this is the first time that this has happened to me in my 3 years in the United States)
We are on a road trip, currently passing through Alabama. Naturally, we got tired and very hungry after a long night of driving. So we started looking for a place to eat. Eventually, we came across this place and thought it looked like a nice place to finally rest and have an uneventfull and delicious familly meal. But we could not have been more wrong.
The minute we stepped into the place, we felt that akward staring that says "You are not welcomed here" I have to admit that we get that "look" more often that we would want, so we didn't mind and sat anyways (We cannot change years of prejudice against foreigners, can we?) The issue this time was that there seemed to be a debate over "Who was going to take the order of the 'mexicans'" among the staff. A waitress near by apparently said "not me" by making a facial expression denoting nothing but sheer disgust and complete rejection of the idea of being our server this morning. The childish game "Nose goes" continued for a while among them. Meanwhile, we didn't even get asked if we would like something to drink (which usually happens within the first 30s after we sit in a restaurant) It important to note that the place was not crowded nor busy, there were plenty of waitresses just standing there, deciding who was going to be the "unlucky" one to take our order. At this point, we found the situation ludicrous and very unpleasant. So we decided to get up and leave. (Since we find confrontations involving "race" very idle, and we had better places to be)
I have no proof of all this (Didn't even occured to me to record it, not really my style) I actually dont need them because I'm not planing on suing or anything similar. However, I'm writing this review just in case another unluky hispanic family gets hungry around this stablishment's area. Maybe they will read it and think twice before going inside. That is my only goal.
Don't worry Waffle House, the demograpics of the area shows a predominately caucasian majority. You won't lose a lot of clients. This is not the intent of this review in any way. I'm also not looking for an apology. I think apoligies of this kind are useless and insincere.
DISCLAIMER: The conversations in this review are all made up. They are merely my perception of what the actual topic of discussion was between the employess. But considering the facial and body expressions of the personnel working at the place, plus the way they looked at us. I would say that I'm not that far from what was really being discussed among them.
Hope you have a nice day, we are not mad. We are just concerned of what america is...
Read moreNot knocking The Waffle House BUT this visit was'nt the Best! We were waited on by a trainee sooooo Ive decided to give em a break! First of all....I Love WH's coffee!🌡HOT🌡that is!! This visit, my coffe was served luke warm AND....hear me out now....coffee is ALWAYS, ALWAYS served with a glass of water whether it is ordered or not!!! (I worked at The WH in my teens and early twenties as a waitress & short order cook, so I might just be a little hard on them) Anyways, my friend and I both odered a cup of coffee and I told our lil' waiter we would need some more time to look over the menu! Well the young man continued to stand there, so I repeated that we needed a few more moments to look over the menu! It registered that go around! LOL! 😉 Second of all, I odered only a hamburger....no cheese, no onion! When I recieved my order it was just a patty, the bun and a packet of mayo! WAIT....WHAT??? Where is my lettuce, tomato and pickles (the other sauces were on the table) WELLLLLL.....By this time I had lost my appetite! Like I said....the young man was still in training! Im hoping he catches on pretty quuck as he was very pleasant, friendly and out going young man.... I do plan on going back in a couple of weeks AND if he's there I will definitely give him a chance to redeem himself! Everybody needs a second chance!! BTW waiting on tables is not an easy job! It takes a special kind of person to work and wait on the public! So DONT knock your waiters or waitresses until you've done the job yourself! With all this being said....I'll give this visit 2.5...
Read moreIf you're like me you're busy. Be it work, school, or you've got family in your Entourage, you find it hard to get in the calories you need without breaking the bank. That's when Waffle House comes in to throw you a bone.
Their food is served hot with many different combinations available. Even if you get the All Star everytime, you'll find options you might've never thought of had it not been recommended.
I struggle to sit still and make it through most meals, as my job requires me to always be on the move, but rest assured that Waffle house offers great food, quality customer service, and an air of hospitality that takes you back to childhood, so take a load off. Before work, after work, or even on the only off day that week, and sit down to a meal that satisfies the appetite...
