I checked into my room through the app, but still had to stop by the desk to check in. I did an early check in with the General manager. She told me that she had a room, but they had not had time to get me my special requests. I was checked into room 401, the room smelled like mildew and had mold throughout the bathroom all over the wall. My profile states no pillows with feathers, and I it had feathers. When explained to the manager my concerns, she states, that she told me that my special requests had not been taken to the room. I ordered extra towels and blankets because I knew that I would be staying for a longer period of time, me being allergic to feathers, and that being a part of my profile, to me was not a special request due to me having checked in the day before. She then informed me that they would get me another room ready while I’m working, so I left and returned 10 hours later, and was placed in room 407, where it smelled like it had not been stayed in for years. The plastic cups had been torn into as though someone had opened them, no ironing board cover, nasty wash cloth hanging with clean towels, sticky and stanky bathroom with stains on the wall. Water in the sink took hours to drain and the hotel room door had a crack so big that you could almost stick your hand through it. The only difference in this room was there was no sight of mildew, and no feathered pillows. I put in gloves and cleaned and disinfected the room as much as possible. The entire time that I was there I felt nasty, however, I stayed due to work, and had just stayed next door for 30 days at another hotel that was almost as bad. This city has horrible hotel rooms and should not be able to stay in business until they are updated, replaced carpet, new wall paper/ tile, and scrubbed with disinfectant and bleach! I’m so happy that my training is over and I don’t have to return to such filthy condition of temporary stay hours...
Read moreWe are Gold Elite members of Marriott Bonboy and in our frequent travels have stayed in Marriott hotels numerous times. In fact the night before we checked into the Gadsden Fairfield we had stayed at the Fairfield in Wytheville Virginia. We were therefore surprised and disappointed at what we encountered in Gadsden. ||Where to begin? We had, we thought, booked a King Suite. However we were informed that the hotel had 'overbooked' and we were given an extremely small room with a king bed instead. The room contained furniture that was shabby, chipped, and stained. There were empty brackets in the bathtub area that once had held something, and a bracket on the bathroom door had once no doubt had a clothes hook attached for towels and the like. There was one tiny 'cleansing bar' (soap?) for my wife and I to share. That complimented the very small vials of shampoo and conditioner that we also had to share. My wife and I each carry our own laptops, which need for our business. But the Internet would not connect, and we were given a phone number to call to rectify the 'problem'. When we finally had a connection about an hour and a half had gone by. Couldn't get much work done that night. ||We are on a road trip cross country, so naturally being aware of weather conditions is of great importance - but the Weather Channel is 'not an authorized channel' on the hotel's television. Why not? ||I am in fairly good physical condition, but had to assist my wife in handling the very heavy doors to the room, and inside as well. Can't see how an elderly person or slight woman could get into or out of the room. Add all that to an unconcerned and uninterested series of desk clerks who never once looked up to acknowledge or greet us as we passed, and you have to sum total of why we will never, ever, return to this place.||The Fairfield Inn & Suites Gadsden compares very unfavorably to any Motel 6 at...
Read moreMy daughter and 2 friends went to see Southern Mamma 3/26. They checked into the Fairfield Inn in Rainbow city Al which turned out to be a terrible and horrific choice. They put their stuff in the room and went to the show. Upon their return, management had locked their room and held their items "hostage" until they paid for their room. I had made their reservations on 3/3 and paid over the phone. They had their confirmation # which the desk clerk never asked for. Had she asked the whole issue could have been avoided. You see, turns out, while they were at the show another woman named Kelli Smith had checked in. My daughter is Kelly Smith with a "y". After numerous calls, headaches and one mad mamma bear 3 hours away, it turnes out they were booked at the one on the Gadsden side. Brian Garrett still made them pay for the room they were in for about 15 minutes. Deskclerk, Nika said it would be an $85 charge. My daughter checked her account today and the charge was $97. In managament, the first thing we learned was, for every happy customer you may gain 1 new one. For every unhappy customer statitics show you lose 5 potential customers. It is my goal to try and quadruple that loss and all over a 15 minute room stay for $97. I am sure that is not much to you but for her, it is a utility payment. Of course, after the exchange they had with Brian Garrett, I am sure this is falling on deaf ears. You really don't care and I realize I am waisting my time. Of course, cut and paste will make it much quicker in the days and months ahead. In spite of this I wish you health, happiness...
