Love the food here. Hands down. And good prices. However, while driving down I-80 from the mountains and looking up places in Auburn that are open at 9pm and seeing that Taco Tree says they are open until 11... It was frustrating to find out that they close down the dining room at 9pm EVEN THOUGH THIS INFORMATION IS NOT POSTED ANYWHERE ONLINE OR GOOGLE MAPS, AND THERE IS NO SIGNAGE ANYWHERE ON THE DOORS OR THE BUILDING DISPLAYING THEIR HOURS. So we order our food at the counter, but they tell us that we will need to take our food "to go". My girlfriend asks a lady behind the counter when they close the dining room. The lady tells her "right now. As soon as everyone leaves." In a very careless and unprofessional way. We decided we don't want to upset them until have our food in hand so we wait for our food. After receiving our food, I ask the same lady when they close. She says "right now". At this point we have tried to get a clear answer and asked 2 times without getting a clear answer. So I asked AGAIN "What actual time do you close the dining area". While giving me a rude look, She finally answered the question and said "9pm". So I tell her " We were driving down highway 80 and looking for somewhere to sit and eat in Auburn. Your information online and on Google maps only says that you close at 11:00. It does not state that your dining room hours are any different". She responds in a very irritated and dismissive way "I'll pass on that information". But the fact is that she knew damn well that this was an ongoing problem. While we sat and ate outside with my girlfriend feeling cold and not having a sweater, 3 MORE CUSTOMERS CAME TO THE DOOR ONLY TO FIND THAT IT WAS LOCKED AND THEY COULDN'T GO IN. EVERY ONE OF THEM TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE THERE ALSO BECAUSE THEY ARE LISTED AS A RESTAURANT THAT IS OPEN UNTIL 11PM. So I know damn well that the lady is aware of this issue. Tonight was only one night and it happened 3 times in 15 minutes. And it seems VERY SUSPECT that they do not have their hours of operations posted anywhere for the public on the building or the door like most businesses do. I get the impression that they just close whenever they feel like it. And I think that's why the lady got irritated with me for confronting her about it. Cuz she knew that if she admitted that they close whenever they feel like it, it would create more negative conversation and more confrontation. The lady looked in her mid 30s, long brown pony tail. If you are the owner and you are reading this, you need to know that your staff is closing the dining room down at 9pm and people who search for a restaurant where they can sit down and eat are being turned away. That Is very bad business. And it is incredibly unprofessional to not have your hours of operation posted near the entrance to your restaurant. And for God's sake, if your staff isn't supposed to be closing the dine-in portion of your restaurant 2 hours earlier than your listed time online, then please fire that lady.... Because she was incredibly rude and seems horrible at customer service. You may have lost a couple of long term customers tonight. Not to mention the other 3 people who found your doors locked even though they looked online and thought your doors were open...
Read moreSpent 25 minutes at the local Taco Tree location in Auburn, enough to entertain a couple crunchy beef tacos and a bean and cheese burrito. The hard taco shell was shaped and felt similar to that of Taco Bell. Maybe the polite employee didn't know what I meant when I asked if they made their own taco shells, because even though she said they do, they seemed premade, just as a store bought shell would be. Perfectly shaped smooth, and crunches apart with the first bite.
But I ate it, and it filled my belly. Same with the BnC... ate it too. Slightly larger portions than The Bell, and deliciously mediocre. They have Pepsi products, just like the Bell, complete with the new disgusting Starry. God I wished they had Sprite. Or bottled Jarrito sodas. Look into it.
I will go back, because ya know, I may like bomb Mexican food... but I do also like Taco Bell... and this place had local charm. And even though I was just passing through, I enjoyed the smiles and all the locals working hard, chatting amongst themselves, and this place needs a dollar more than the Bell.
Can't wait to try their BRC burrito and other super-goodies from time to time. Thank you for your kind service, and for the late night food....
Read moreWe got to Taco Tree (our 1st time there) at about 1:15pm on 9/4 and was served by two of the rudest employees I have ever encountered. The woman working the register who wore a green shirt snapped at me when I asked if I could add guacamole to my order because they apparently don't have that. The woman filling drinks wearing the navy blue shirt was the worst, however. When my 4 year old set his sun glasses on the counter, she picked them up and set them behind the counter. I had ro ask a few times if anyone saw what happened to them before she offered them back. When I went to collect my drinks, there were drinks for another order there as well. I had to ask one of my kids which shake he ordered because there were 3 up there. When I did so, the woman in the navy shirt did a dramatic eye roll. After I collected our drinks, my daughter, who didn't realized there was an issue, asked me why the woman in navy kept staring at us. I looked up, and sure enough, I was greeted with a dirty look. I caught her giving me a dirty look another 5 or so times. I still have no clue what the dirty looks were all about. The food wasn't bad and the price was great but you couldn't pay me to...
