Update: 07/14/25 ☆ One star because I can't leave 0...I used to love this little place and was very excited to take my mom and sister here tonight before we went to see Tyrus... the experience was so bad I don't know if I'll ever go back. First, let me say I anticipated it being busy, so I intentionally called ahead and made a reservation. When I asked the girl taking the reservation, how early do you think we need to be there I anticipate it being busy before the show. She said, "Oh, 6:15-6:30 I think you'll be fine".. I said are you sure that's early enough. She said yes, so I set it for a booth at 6:15.. we got there at 6:18...got seated..took.a few minutes to order because mom and Courtney had never been there before and the waitress took foreverto comebackto our table. Our waitress brought our drinks over relatively quickly, however. After we got our drinks and our order placed, we didn't see her again except once. When we flagged down a different waitress to find out where ours was. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer. Which came out in a timely manner. They were pretty good. But after that everything went downhill. By 7:00 we still hadn't gotten our food, by 7:10 we flagged down a different waitress to tell our waitress we needed her. She came over to the table and said oh you need refills on your drinks? We said no, we need our food. We're trying to get to the show that starts at 7:30! She said "oh well it's just overly busy. You know because of the show" We said, "Yes, we know,we're trying to get to the show too!" Oh okay, well I'll go check on it. She finally comes back and tells us that they moved our ticket to the front of the line. I'm like, front of the line?! We've been here for 45 minutes! People that were walk in's in got their orders ahead of us. Needless to say, it was extremely disappointing, and I highly doubt either myself, my sister, or my mother will ever go back. We finally told the lady we don't have time to wait anymore, make it to go, and we'll just take it with us... we should have just canceled it all together. Didn't get to eat my dinner until after I got home, which is now 10:30 pm... and I'm not impressed with what was in the Box either. That has got to be the skinniest chicken breast I've ever seen it's almost like they cut a chicken breast in half to make two fillets, and I only got one..and it was dry and overcooked. I definitely don't know why they called the blacked chicken bacon bomb because there was barely any bacon on it. I don't know how my mom's (hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and green beans) and my sister's (club sandwich, no tomatoes, with fries) came out because they had to go home after they dropped me off, so I might update this later after they tell me what they thought. I know for a fact they weren't happy about the service tonight. I spent a whole lot of money on a really bad experience, $56.00 on excuses and dry food.
Reply to *Owners response, just more excuses. You guys should have been better prepared knowing there was a big event in town. So, NO, we won't be back. Next time, we'll stick to the Chinese buffet or eat in Andover before we go..
05/22/22: ☆☆☆☆ Fun little spot. I got the Onion Rings for our appetizer, the Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes with White Gravy Side Salad and Ice Tea.. The chicken fried steak was pretty good, but the mashed potatoes were terrible, and the blue cheese dressing is awful. But our server...
Read moreI have always been an advocate for small businesses and their success however I am appalled regarding the food and service received at Sugar Shane’s last night. The last couple of visits we have waited over an hour for our food but shrugged it off as we understand everyone is short staffed and just needs a little kindness. Last night after an hour of waiting we were told by our waitress that half our food was ready. When asked if she could just bring out what is ready she explained she wasn’t allowed as the kitchen would get confused. For the next 25 min we continued to wait. By an hour and 27min our food was ready. So half our meals sat under the heat lamp and my 6 year old daughters meal was sent to another table. So they were going to make her a new one. She ordered the small fish dinner ( yes she loves fish). Not even 10 min later they brought her plate and the fish wasn’t even cooked. It was translucent and slimy. Not white and flaky as it should be. Mind you while this is all happening our waitress was the only waitress working the whole front by herself. I felt so bad for her as the owner’s wife and son who were working the bar weren’t helping out at all. Im no expert but one of them could have stepped out and helped as I’m sure 1 person could handle the bar on a Monday night. When we showed our waitress the fish and she had no words. To make matters worse, I asked for a kids grilled cheese since my 6 year old still hadn’t eaten other than what we were sharing with her off our plates. It took another 15 min for a grilled cheese and when it came out the cheese wasn’t even melted! That was the final straw. The owners son, I can’t think of his name right now is the one who handed us the grilled cheese. When we asked him about it, he got defensive and immediately was like I will take 50% your ticket. We asked him questions about the service and he then immediately said you know what I will comp your whole meal. He then proceeded to say under his breath something to the fact of don’t come back and walked off. He acted like this was our fault and it was ridiculous. Our waitress came over to apologize to us and she didn’t even do anything wrong. We made she she was taken care of bc I have been a waitress before and I know she was doing what she could. It saddens me to say based off the attitude from the son and our food from we won’t be back to...
Read moreIt seems like everyone in town raves about Sugar Shane’s, but if I could give this review 0 stars, I would. If you wanna wait hours for mediocre food (or no food at all in my case), then this is definitely the place to go.
The first time I went to Sugar Shane’s, there was an event going on so they had a limited menu, which I was not impressed with. Still, i figured I’d give it a shot and order a flat bread pizza. The wait for the food was decent, about 15 mins. The pizza on the other hand, was far from it. very dry, hard, not pleasing at all. Dollar tree frozen pizza is better than that.
I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and go back in today. Got there at 7 o’clock. There were only 6 tables. And 2 servers. There are 2 adults and 3 kids in my family, so it’s not like we were a huge party coming in. Drinks took 10 mins to get. Appetizer took 15. Waited over an hour before my kids started getting fussy because they were tired and hungry. I flagged the waitress and told her that we were just gonna go and that I’d pay for our fried pickles and the salad my wife ate. She told me that she had no idea where our food was at in the line up, but that she’d check the kitchen, and if our food was up, she’d box it up for us to take home and remove everything off the ticket. She comes back a couple minutes later to tell me that our food was nowhere near being done and that she would discount our ticket if she got her managers approval. The ticket she gave was $15.47 for fried pickles and 2 adult drinks. Ridiculous. I’m all for supporting local businesses but this one will no longer be a dining option...
