Well, a buffet sounded like a good time, so I landed at this spot. This was an out-of-date looking restaurant, but I don’t scare off too easy, so I proceeded with my decision to eat here. I paid at the counter upon entry for my girlfriend and I. It came out at a little over $30 for the both of us and included drinks. We got to choose where to sit and we chose a corner booth.
The waitress came to our table right away. I ordered a Diet Pepsi from her and we then helped ourselves to the food. I started out with the Hibachi area. I chose chicken, beef, onions, and pineapples for my plate. I handed it to the cook and he offered sauces. I chose teriyaki sauce and garlic sauce. After that, I went to see what else they had to offer. Nothing I got was marked, but I made a plate with what seemed to be white rice, shrimp fried rice, brown noodles, egg rolls, a couple different types of saucy chicken, breaded chicken pieces, sweet and sour-type sauce, and beef with onions. I really wish I knew exactly what these items were. It was a red flag that they couldn’t at least mark them. Some people may have allergies.
The Diet Pepsi was good. I got a free refill on it. The Hibachi plate was definitely the best thing here. I packed it down my mouth fairly fast. I really should have just gotten another Hibachi plate, because the rest of the food ended up being generic. The white rice was alright. The shrimp fried rice wasn’t good. The brown noodles were okay. The egg rolls were chewy and nasty. None of the chicken items stood out. They were all pretty bland. The sweet and sour-type sauce was okay, but not too thick. The beef with onions was alright at best.
For a last chance at redemption for them, I found myself in the dessert area. I grabbed two small cookies, two yellowish, soft pastries, and two flake-type bars.
The cookies weren’t too bad. The yellowish pastries had a nice texture and were good. The flake-type bars were hard and gross.
The service wasn’t good. Our waitress took a long time to grab our dirty plates. She didn’t seem to care to offer me a refill. She sat down in a different part of the restaurant appearing both lazy and disoriented in her workplace. I even gave her a pre-tip to try to ensure I’d get good service. I felt like a dummy for doing that.
Overall, this place needs to seriously enhance their flavor on most of their food. The Hibachi is basically the only plus here. The potential is definitely there, but they don’t seem to care enough. The should remodel a bit and decrease the price to around $12 per person.

Short explanation/TLDR: Go here if you’re looking for an extremely cheap priced and mediocre OK buffet (12.90 before tax per person). Quality of food is OK, with some items much better than others. Just try and see what you like!
Food 7/10, price 9/10, location 8/10, service 10/10
I went to HGB in the afternoon, Friday September 22. There were plenty of people but a lot of seats open. There was plenty of parking as well.
For some input, I am a local here in Aurora and we barely have any buffets. The reviews to this place really put me off on going here, and I usually go to the far off buffets like Golden Buffet; however, going here was a delightful experience. I will say though: people going here, temper your expectations, as HGB is a hit or miss depending on what you like to eat. Some items are good while some items you may not like.
Going into the buffet, I came in knowing that the prices were lowered to around 12.90, and I had to pay $14.00 after tax.
I had two plates in total. My first plate had the primarily meat items, including fried chicken, beef skewers, some salt and pepper fried beef/pork. I also had sushi. My second plate consisted of the crab meat covered in cheese, a bowl of one of the soups, and some pork.
The meat was the best part of both plates. While I did dislike the salt and pepper pork, the beef skewers, the fried chicken, and the fried pork tasted great. The sushi, on the other hand, tasted icky - it tasted like sushi, but it was too cold in my opinion. The crab meat tasted great too. The soup was okay, but I wouldn’t eat a lot of it.
I also tried some of the American items like french fries. Not worth eating in my opinion as they didn’t have much flavor.
I ignored the dessert items as none really piqued my interest. There was jello, some fudge, fruits covered in sauce, etcetera.
Bathrooms were clean and not dirty, and comfortable.
Overall, I would give hibachi grill buffet a 3.5/5 stars, borderline 4, or a 7/10 in a ten scale. Hibachi Grill and Buffet is a great place to go to casually, and depending on your taste buds, some of the food may be a hit or miss for you - but there is DEFINITELY good food here.
ALSO: the Hibachi station may seem closed, but you just need to ask to get...
Read moreThe cashier was digging in his bottom and on cell phone constantly. The woman who gets your drinks was on her cell phone as well and our table was full of finished plates that needed to be cleared so it would be more room for more plates of food. She cleared them when we were about to leave so our table was crowded. They said they switched food out at 3:30 p for dinner but i was there earlier , i did a walk through of lunch. Some of the food was switched out , but not all. And the food seemed stale. The crawfish was old. The shell was so soft, when we tried to get meat out the tail, the whole thing would just crumble. Meat was mushy. The spaghetti taste like stale grease, no taste. The corn flake dessert tasted like old grease, no sweetness to it whatsoever. The ice cream appeared to look as if it all had melted and refrozen, and ice cream was considerably soft. The marshmallow raisin dessert looked old and the taste was not good. The raisin tasted like dried up raisins, no sweetness, not soft when chewing. This was our 2nd visit and we had a similar experience but it was last yr. So i thought this time, maybe it would be different. No hot water in bathroom, only cold water to wash your hands. All in all, the food tastes like it did last yr and that is, as if left over food is put up and put back out for resale the next day. Food just doesn't taste fresh. The drinks were good though. I would not recommend this place. Place wasn't dirty, but it wasn't spic and span clean neither. They had 2 China ppl working, the cashier (man) and woman. The cooks were mexican, because i heard them conversing. They also would come out and put new food and mix it with the old food. But even then , that food still tasted greasy and old. No thanks i...
