Visited El Capitan to celebrate my birthday this month and it was a great experience from the service, food and ambience. I visited on a Sunday and they had mariachi that sang to me Las Mañanitas, definitely made the moment very special! Our server was Victoria and her service was 10/10, very attentive and incredibly sweet! She made our visit feel comfortable and very enjoyable, and she even offered to photograph me with my family to commemorate my birthday dinner.

The food was incredibly delicious we ordered a Huachinango Zarandeado, Molcajete de Carnes, Mariscada el Capitán, Ribeye, and Quesabirrias. Everything was beyond tasty and totally mouthwatering!

The huachinango was seasoned to perfection and plated beautifully. The molcajete was HUGE which included various meats such as carne asada, chicken, chorizo, & queso fundido, nopales, chiles asados and cebollitas. 100% worth ordering to share with the entire family. The Mariscada El Capitan was a seafood lover’s dream on a platter. It included shrimp, octopus, mejillones, langostinos, and crab legs.

For dessert we ordered the Mazapan Cheesecake and it was incredibly good, I wanted to take a second slice of cheesecake home with me.

This place is terrible. One they use premade frozen calamari which leads me to believe they use microwaves in there restaurant. However I can’t prove that statement but if you’re willing to serve your customers premade frozen products instead of in-house products you’re willing to cut corners everywhere. Also the service is terrible. The waitress doesn’t come around then when they bring out the order wrong and you tell them that isn’t what you ordered. They blame you for not ordering what they are serving you. Maybe if the wait staff used a pen and paper to take down orders instead of trying to utilize their memory that would help reduce errors on the orders. They won’t even expedite the fix telling you that you have to wait for a spot to pen for the kitchen to cook it. Sorry I’m not waiting another 40 min for the mistake of the staff.
