Jus Grill Restaurant — Restaurant in Aurora

Something must have changed here as we have eaten multiple times both in restaurant and pickup/delivery with no issues. Tonight we order what we have before (chicken jambalaya) through Uber and in the item description there was no cheese on this item and in the past no cheese was placed on this item. The person eating this has a severe dairy allergy and unfortunately cheese was added this time rendering the jambalaya inedible.

No huge deal, we’re used to mistakes and willing to drive to get a replacement. I called in and the first person was understanding and apologized but was not sure the steps to take to resolve the issue and placed me on hold. Once again, understandable. The second person I talked to is where the interaction took a downward spiral.

She started off by just saying hello, followed by a long pause it took myself to ask if she had been filled in or if I needed to reiterate what happened. She stated that she did know what happened and that all their pasta comes with cheese and we did not ask for no cheese. I informed here that unfortunately on Uber it does not state in the ingredients that the item had cheese or else I would have asked for no cheese like I had on the salad being that they did not have a list of what was on the salad. She then began to try and defend her previous statement of all pasta coming with cheese by talking to someone in the background while on the phone with me. I then tried to explain to her once again about the lack of proper description on Uber to help them out and get this updated however she would not let me talk without talking over me. After I expressed frustration that she was talking over me, her words were “what do you want? Us to make it over?” At this point I had completely lost faith in this restaurants willingness to customer service and declined any remake.

This morning I went to Jus Grill with my dad. We go every few weeks on Friday mornings; the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. They are also very COVID aware and very safe. Now enough of that, I went in today despite starting the Whole30 at the beginning of the month. The Whole30 is a lifestyle change where you focus your attention on food and what is in it. In short, it is nearly impossible to follow when out at a restaurant. I spoke to the waitress about what I could have and what they could possibly do for me. I also spoke with a gentleman who brought out bottles of their ingredients so I could look at the labels. Unfortunately, I couldn't have what they had to offer. I thanked them profusely, but explained I could only have coconut or avocado oil. I ordered fruit and a poached egg, something simple to follow my new lifestyle with food. When my order arrived, I had freshly prepared potatoes with my eggs and the gentleman told me he went out and got me avocado oil so I could have a well-rounded breakfast. I was...impressed. Even more than. The effort they took to make sure I could have food that followed my guidelines, but still enjoy the restaurant and time with my dad was incredible. They have really shown there are still so many decent people in the world with an act so small. I will forever go to this establishment. I have been to Jus Grill three times, but it has been a while since my last visit. As a matter of fact, I haven't been since the remodeled and expanded the restaurant. Last time I was here their was a 30 min wait, with the remodel, I am sure they cut that in half and have the ability to have more customers. It was great to see they reinvested into the business to accomodate their customers better and more efficiently. Along with their expansion, they definitely didn't let their menu suffer, nor the quality of their food. They have items that I can assure you would be in line with the best breakfast, brunch, or lunch, on any menu. If you are looking for good food for a great value, this place would be in line for a good dinner as well. As far as their food goes, I went with the beef and been burrito smothered in green chili. To my surprise, it had a very authentic taste. The meat was tender the beans were cooked perfectly, and the chili was delicious. The green chili was good, however I like my chili SPICY and this was the only place they missed on.
