Steel Tips Bar — Restaurant in Aurora

Can't believe I've never written a review of the place, but I've been coming here since 2002, when it was Lainie's. Stayed through ownership change to Barb and Si and BD Wolf's, checked out a bit when I quit league darts for a while, and then came back with Danielle and Steel Tips. I've always loved this place. I was treated well from the start, and it's only gotten better. This is my "Cheers" -- everyone knows my name and they're always happy to see me (or so it seems :) ). The people that come in are good people, and I always have a great time. Yes, it smells sometimes. That's an issue that I know Barb and Si dealt with, and now Danielle is too. It's a problem with the strip mall complex, not the individual bar itself. At some point, you can't keep throwing money at something with no result. However, that shouldn't change the reviews -- the food is awesome, the staff is always great (Teresa's amazing, and one of the biggest reasons I wouldn't think of shooting darts out of another bar), and the drinks are well made and well priced. This place is an absolute dump. Watching how they treat customers that don’t look like them is a joke. They don’t even hide their racism. I heard a woman bartender use slurs to a couples face. Place smells like raw sewage, your feel stick to the floor the minute you walk in. Bathrooms were straight up disgusting. The worst I’ve even seen in any type of establishment. As you can guess, the bartenders are horrible, rude, openly racist, and borderline incompetent. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, this is the worst bar I’ve even walked into. We walked over to the brewery and shared our experience with them. Not a single person working there and the two tables next to us had a single good thing to say about them. Nothing short of a horrible bar. Would give it zero...

This place is definitely a laid-back hangout dive, but very "locals-oriented". Also, I've never been to this bar on a night it actually closed at 2am. The staff here will close you out on any given night between 12 and 1am, they're not ever thrilled about closing at 2am. I only visit this place for a couple of drinks, I'm within walking distance and don't care to drink and drive. Also, GOOD GOD, this place needs to fix the plumbing issue. Every time I visit, it takes me 2 drinks and an hour of nausea-induced revulsion to get over the odor of their backed-up sewer system. Fix your sewer...
