A year ago we came here for our annual family Christmas lunch and if I could have left 10 stars I would have. I have been back several times since bringing different people with me and each time it was a 5 star experience. Unfortunately that was not the case today. While the ambiance is still amazing, and our food was good, the service and overall experience was a one star at best. First of all apparently their menu is changing tomorrow, so the online menu is not valid. Second of all, we only had 5 entrees to choose from, none of which were on the menu online and several of the other very limited items were not available. (It would have been nice to have been told that in advance when we made our reservations). My sister and niece ordered the wedge salad and the steak entree. What they received was the wedge salad with steak sliced on top of it, rather than the salad and entree. Our server filled my nieces water glass and a long with water, the was a live bug, which the manager said was "just a fruit fly". It was quite a bit bigger than a fruit fly. The straw that broke camels back was when we ordered the "signature chocolate Angel cake" for dessert and rather than getting a dessert that had candied walnuts and pecans, luxardo cherries, vanilla as well as cinnamon Carmel ice cream, we were given a piece of angel food cake that was fried in butter with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce drizzled over it. A far cry, from the dessert we ordered. When we questioned it, we were told they didn't have everything for the "signature" dessert. While the the manager finally took the desserts (which we did not eat) and the wedge salads, ( but not the additional $24 piece of steak) off the bill it was only after multiple excuses, being told she did us a favor by putting us by the fireplace, (mind you there were only 5 other occupied tables in the entire restaurant and there are 2 rooms with fireplaces. There was never an apology, not even for the added live bug. We were so disappointed that after several good experiences this one was bad enough that we won't be back. For the price point, the service left much to be desired and the food though good, lacked all of the beauty and class that we have experienced...

We have been to Mario’s International Cabin Restaurant several times in the past 4 months and, unfortunately, there’s no consistency with the food. First time there in November 2023, we ordered the Caesar salad with hot grilled marinated chicken and it was amazing. My wife and daughter decided to go there for a party of 12 ladies and my wife said the salmon she had was mediocre at best. For Valentines Day we decided to go for the third time for the excellent Caesar salad, but they must have decided that it was too good so they changed it completely. Now it’s served on a dinner plate rather than a bowl, no dressing so it’s basically a plate of romaine lettuce with cold generic chicken on top. Had to request additional dressing that I think came out of a bottle of store bought rather than freshly prepared. Caesar dressing does not contain vinegar! Ordered an appetizer of calamari, which was supposed to be crispy but it was a soggy mess served with mushy grape tomatoes. Sent that mess back and ordered chicken Alfredo, which was much like a Chicken Helper meal from a box. The only thing that was good was the dinner rolls and wine. Oh and did I mention that the server was not friendly and didn’t have time for us. Sad way to spend Valentine’s Day with my wife of 33 years. Asked for the check and waitress never came back to collect payment so I had to find someone else who would take payment from me… I don’t believe in chew and screw! I went to the reception desk and explained my disappointment with everything and they said they would relay my complaint with the owner. If they offer a remedy, will come back with an update to this review.
Follow up: No resolution to my complaint and they refused to take anything off the tab. I spent $103 for a bottle of red wine and 3 diner rolls. Turns out they replaced their entire kitchen staff since my initial visit in November 2023. What a shame. I should also mention again that our server said she didn’t have time for us and needed to handle another table order. It WAS a nice place for a relaxing meal with ambience, but now it’s a failure. We won’t...
Read moreI am not one to bash businesses, as we are in a tough enviroment to run one at the moment. But this restaurant was not overly busy and had three waitresses at the time we were there. When I brought up my issues with the waitress I got no apology. This isn't how you retain customers. My sisters and I went recently visited The Cabin for lunch. The atomosphere was terrific and the food was pretty good. But our service was terrible. We felt forgotten. Though it took a while for our food to be served, our waitress never came to refill our drinks. We were not brought the cusomary bread, as were other tables. When you are eating a smaller lunch, that adds significantly to your meal and at their prices, you are paying for it!! My sister ordered soup and a salad for lher lunch. Everything came out together and the soup was not there. We assumed our waitress couldn't bring it all in one trip. No, she never came back, not even to refill drinks or ask how everything was, until we were completely done eating. By that time my sister was no longer interested. When I got the bill my sister's $14 lobster bisque that she never got was on our bill!! The waitress should have known she didn't serve it! Because she had been so inattentive, I had to track her down to have it taken off the bill since we never received it. She didn't apologize for forgetting to bring the soup, only for putting in on the bill. When I asked the host at the desk about the lack of bread he said he would talk to someone about it. That was it. No apology. Their prices for lunch, with maller servings, average $25. I think they can do better with their...
