I grew up on Wallace BBQ and was extremely disappointed with the food my family was served on Saturday. First, I love Carolina style BBQ and what I had at Wallace was NOT Carolina BBQ. It wasn’t BBQ. I see reviews raving about this food. All I can say is that those people need to get out more. Experience the world of BBQ in Georgia and Carolina. Trust me, once you do, you will never go back to Wallace. My daughter wanted to try Wallace because we recommended it. As kids our parents took us to Wallace. As parents we failed our child! This was the worst BBQ I have ever had. I have never ( until yesterday) had BBQ that tasted like it had been boiled. I had to wipe my plate because the server put a plate down that was splattered in whatever liquid they were calling it. There wasn’t any flavor in the meat. There wasn’t any sauce on the table except hot sauce. They also need to move into the 21st century...no one makes a salad with iceberg lettuce anymore! Cheap, cheap and cheap. The only thing good about the salad was the ranch dressing! It was a horribly sad salad. Also, a pork plate always comes with 2 sides in every other BBQ joint in GA but not at Wallace. I got 1 side, iceberg lettuce, the watery no flavor pork and the cheap bun. I was disgusted. They have a pitiful menu. Every other BBQ joint in GA offers fried corn, fried okra and they offer desserts! Not Wallace BBQ in Austell. I felt sorry for my daughter and the entire family. The server was overwhelmed it seamed and didn’t come back to keep our glasses filled. They knew it was a birthday and never offered a dessert menu. We were a large party 🎉 . They had the potential to make a lot of money on us. They had the potential for return business. Nope! You had multiple families represented for potential returned business and they lost every one of them and all the future potential...

My fiancée and I came down from Tennessee to spend the day at Six Flags so naturally we were pretty hungry after a morning of riding roller coasters. We found this place on Google Maps and the food looked delicious in the pictures. We arrived at around 7:30 PM and were promptly greeted by a waitress who then seated us. The atmosphere around the restaurant was hospitable and our waitress Mary was just the kindest. She arrived within seconds as we sat down and provided us with just amazing service. We were able to figure out what we wanted to eat, we had the 10 piece Smoke Pit Wings as an appetizer, my fiancée ordered the Pork plate, and I had the Rib plate. The wings were absolutely delicious!!! They arrived within minutes of us ordering them. They had such a great crunch with each bite and not a “burnt-to-crisp” crunch. The taste of them didn’t disappoint either especially with the wing sauce on the side and their homemade hot sauce. Our order then arrived just as soon as we finishing up our wings. The ribs were absolutely scrumptious!!! Nice subtle crunch while still being juicy and just pulls right off the bone. The pulled pork was just perfect for my fiancée. She is a fan of good pulled pork and her plate surpassed good. We both didn’t hesitate to start eating our plates. We got so caught up in our food that we were silent during the beginning of us eating. Our food easily joined the clean plate club. Mary was always checking on us and making sure we were alright as well as our food. She would occasionally chat with us and it was just so nice speaking to her. We absolutely loved her and can’t wait to see her again whenever we come back again. Believe us we will be coming back again, hopefully with the rest...

Okay people here it is. I know a lot of You Love Wallace BBQ, but I have had a few experiences there that were very discrediting. The service for one is usually bad. The Waitresses are not friendly and they brought me some food I wouldn't serve my cat. I had to get the manager in on that one. I've been in the Mableton Austell area for over 50 years, and I know most of the restaurants very well, including this one. They are similar to Hudson's, only because they too have one of Hudson's items, which is the Thrift plate. Wallace's slaw is awful and their barbecue does not have as good a flavor as Hudson's. On steak, Hudson's steak rivals Longhorns. Fred's BBQ, has everyone beat on sweet tea but their prices have gone up and they are outrageous. However, I still need to get my yellow jacket dog from time to time. And no one else has the Texas Burger but Fred's. I'll tell you one restaurant I wish would come back, but I'm sure it never will, and that is a little hole in the wall that was on Austell Road right down the street from Cobb General Hospital, its name was June's Drive-In. You absolutely could not beat their giant Gulf rock shrimp and fries. But, that was over 40 years ago. Oh well, the memories live on!...

Just when ya think you can't get good service, ya walk into this great place. While on vacation in the Atlanta area, my family and I stumbled onto Wallace's bbq while in search of a bbq establishment. Hands down the best and most personable service one can receive. Sissy (our server) treated my kids and wife like her own family. ABSOLUTELY LOVED THAT! would also like to give a small kudos to Allie. As for the food, super good vinegar based bbq. Really moist, full of flavor, and they even bring a big bowl of sauce to dip. Oh, and the homemade blue cheese and ranch dressings, are to die for! They will even sell some togo home with. WE LOVE THIS PLACE! One last note: one of my sons is special needs, and Sissy treated him as if he were her own. Thank you very much for that. We will always make this a destination any time we are near Atlanta.

Wallace is the classic BBQ joint with what you expect on a southern BBQ menu, but here is where they separate themselves from the others. They have long time waitresses, who are helpful, welcoming and love the job. Wallace has customers come back week after week to see the employees because they feel like they are coming to see family. Then there is the food, in a word excellent. I always have said if you are a real southern BBQ restaurant you have to have hand-cut fries and they do. They are golden brown on the outside and tender on the inside. The pork and vinegar based sauce compliment each other well. Slaw is sweet and creamy and why not add some Brunswick stew that doesn’t try and impress with unusual additions, but wows you with flavor warming your soul. It is a must stop for anybody looking for traditional BBQ fare.
