A staple in the “Taco Strip” in the N Lamar & Rundberg Rd area, El Tacorrido offers solid tacos from really early until late at night I’ve read different opinions about their service and quality, and yes, sometimes I have to deal with this short girl taking orders, she needs a lot of polishing to learn customer treatment, but once you go through that part, the tacos are worth it Also I’ve read mixed opinions regarding quality and flavor, kind of a hit or miss situation apparently, but honestly, in the 9-10 years I’ve eating, they’ve always hit the spot, even when I bring people to try them for the very first time, they’re always delighted and satisfied with the food As per their salsas, I only use their green one, but it’s one the best salsa verde in all of Austin, as a born and raised Mexican, I assure you that My go-to are always their Carnitas-Revuelta Taco, you can’t go wrong with it, they’re spot on, same with their tortas, so I don’t know if other people just have bad luck, but in my personal experience, El Tacorrido never disappoints

It was so dang good I couldn’t resist eating a bite before I snapped this pic. Left to right we have the Bistec(beef fajitas), Al Pastor, and Carnitas. The Al Pastor was legendary, I’m getting three of those next time. Bistec was tender, delicious, and flavorful. The Carnitas was lagging behind a bit, it was nice and tender but not as flavorful as the others. A nice vibe was the gentleman playing guitar and singing Mexican Ballads outside the Drive Thru. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!!

The only way this place exists is the easy parking and drive-through. At three dollars a taco and two bucks for a water it is a total rip off. The meats were all mediocre and still tough and the tortillas were thick and dry. I was disappointed at how many other alternatives I drove past on my way to check this place out. Give any other spot a try before making the trip here.

WOW! Love it ... Love it.... Love it !!!!

We walked over late last night -they are open until 3 am - and decided to try the Al Pastor meat by the pound to bring home.

Service was really friendly and super fast. Even being as late as it was, there were quite a few people packed into this tiny little shack and even more in the drive through. This place is set up in a shopping center parking lot on Rundberg and Lamar and is quite busy all day long - understandably so.

The prices are unbeatable and there are many delicious items on the menu.

Our order was ready in about 5 minutes, when you order meat by the pound, which you have your choice of either cuerito, buche, carnitas, al pastor, or revuelta. You are also given your choice of tortillas along with salsa, onion, lime, and cilantro. This makes 10-12 tacos and only costs you $14.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We eagerly walked back home and dug in and let me tell you - it was d e l i c i o u s! The al pastor was amazing, the spices were not overpowering and when you take a bite, the flavors literally burst in your mouth. Even the pineapple came through at the back of your tongue in a refreshing subtle way that was tantalizing. The corn tortillas were fresh as well as the cilantro, onions, and limes. The portion for this dish were outrageous. Worth every single penny and then some.

It was so good that the first thing I did this morning was walk back over there to try a breakfast taco. I ordered an egg and chorizo taco on a flour tortilla and added avocado on it. The cost for this $2.25. It was as expected.. delicious. The eggs were not egg beaters but real eggs, not salty like so many taco places either. The chorizo was amazing, nicely balanced with spices.

Both times, I requested the Verde De Aguacate salsa. Yes, its spicy but it has soo much wonderful flavor to it - not all heat like other places. Very fresh indeed!

I tried the Molcajete salsa while waiting for my order last night, and this was pretty dang awesome as well.

I am totally a fan and will be back regularly for sure. If you have not tried this place and like authentic Mexican food, then check this place out.. you will...

El Tacorrido is one of our favorite spots to grab tacos. Usually for breakfast, but also lunch sometimes. We most frequently go to the Burnett Rd location, but have also been to the one on South First. My favorite taco is their Carne Guisada. It's not your typical Carne Guisada. It's more like a cross between carne Guisada and picadillo, with pieces of beef, tomato, potato (small), and peppers. I usually don't put any of their salsas on it, it has enough flavor and spice by itself. Today we decided to grab some lunch tacos, but we were already north of the Burnett Rd location. So we went to the one on Lamar. The drive thru service was fine, no different than the other locations, but sadly the tacos themselves were quite different. The Carne Guisada looked so different, that I thought we got the wrong order. Very little meat, hardly any sauce, and large pieces of potatoes. I had to put a lot of red salsa to give it some flavor and not be so dry. I thought it was just my order, but then my wife said, her bistec tacos were very dry, and didn't taste at all like previous visits. In fact she said the quality of El Tacorrido has really gone down. I told her it's just got to be the difference in this location, and I hope I'm right. Needless to say, if or when we go back, it will be...

We usually buy tacos on Fridays or Saturdays and the experiences with the staff taking order outside is the same. They are not friendly, they don't even look at one when taking the order. Last night after we made the order, we want to pay cash and our bill was $51, the lady taking the order wanted to get paid at that moment. We refused becuase we had $100 bill to pay $51 . This was add becuase we always pay at the moment we get served. The women taking the order outside didn't like that we refused given her the $100 and made sure with her attitude that we get clear of this with her body gestures. By the time we got to the window she was the one we paid and she gave the food. I can't said that she intentionally forgot to give us the cilantro, anion, and limes that comes the order. But his was the first time since bying tacos about 3 years now this happened. We found out until got home about 8 miles away from the business. I will try other taco place next time. I am tired of taking bad customer service behavior from the outside staff. I have never had the experience with the personal taking the pay or serving the food at the window. Last night was enough for me and I am done...
