So outraged by the lack of customer service. I placed an order online and called right after to ask if they could bring it out to my car if I parked right out front, as I was unable to walk due to excruciating pain. I told her I would be very grateful to which she answered, I'm too busy... I mean okay, I have had 100+ plus customers as a waitress and still taken the time to help handicapped people when they come in. It would have taken her less than 10 seconds (I parked DIRECTLY infront of the door, even took a picture that it won't let me add... ) Well, okay, she is busy so that's not the worse part. Maybe she is new too and doesn't feel comfortable. I then asked her, okay when I come for pickup, can you at least make sure that my order is packed together so I don't have to carry more than one thing or wait for something, because I'll be in extream pain, and I won't be able to stand up and wait. I promise I won't come early... To which she again answered I'm busy so I don't know.... At that point I just said okay and hung up. Maybe I'm the idiot for not just doing drive through somewhere else. With 15 plus years in the service industry I just felt that the request wasn't outrageous. :( I had to humiliated myself and put myself in pain and walk 20 steps at a rate of God knows how long when it would have taken someone in there less than ten second. And to make it better she didn't even have my order put together, she handed me a cup and said, I don't know what you wanted to drink so just get it yourself..... I JUST called and said exactly what I wanted so that could be avoided AND that can't walk due to pain, and you STILL did that to me? Cherry on top. Got home and they didn't even give me everything I...
Read moreSome of best Falafel I've had since I left Chicago; made the right way including using parsley which too many places leave out. People think parsley has no taste so they try to skimp and save money, but the Parsley helps bring out the nutty flavor of the chickpeas.
The Dolmas were tasty cooked in lemon broth; I prefer the kind with the tomato in the rice, but these were good. The Hummus is top notch. And they make fresh pitas right there on the grill. Get an extra one!
The Gyro was delicious. One of the best I've had in years, lettuce, tomatoe and just a hint of a spicy kick. That Gyro disappeared quickly!!
They have a few plates with various kebabs of meats or falafel I have not yet tried. I'm sure I will as soon as I get tired of the Gyro. If...lol.
The only down side is they don't carry Mediterranean black olives or feta. I like to order a plate of Olives, Feta and pickled veggies that some places carry.
The only issue I have is their White Sauce. It's not real Tzatziki, which technically requires cucumbers, but it's also not even made with the base ingredients of Tzatziki which is Greek Yogurt. When I inquired as to the ingredients I was told it was Mayo based...yuck. Not healthy, not good and you can absolutely smell the Mayo. Disgusting. So make sure to have your own Tzatziki at home and request ALL of your items without that nasty white sauce.
I ordered when I got there and it took probably 15-20 minutes. Not bad for the freshness of the food. FYI: There is an online ordering method, but the prices are higher ordering online than if you order at the restaurant. I don't care for that when it's their own website so I'll be...
Read more[UPDATE - Jan 2020] Dropping a star from 5 to 4 because of the most recent ridiculous price increase of $2.
I have been to a lot of places in Austin and such a big price increase isn’t justified at all. The best halal place in Austin and out favorite in North Austin. Their shawarmas are the best in town and they are open from 11-11 isn't that amazing! Plus if you are really craving amazing halal food in the middle of the night, they have a food truck downtown 6th Street and they are open at 3am, all that tasty delight in the middle of the night. This place is right next to Domino's Pizza. The service time is average and might go on to the longer side during peak hours. The menu is simple and they have some additional sides such as fries and drinks like lemonade and dessert such as baklava. No table service, you wait in line, order at the counter, pay and take a seat, they will get you your order. As I said the rice bowls with the red and white sauce are amazing and so are the kebabs. They have extra sauces if you need them. They place is well maintained but it isn't that big. Most people order takeaways. They have Mediterranean music playing and the place is clean. I have seen occasionally people shifting and combining tables to seat bigger groups. Definitely give it a try and you will not be disappointed. It is my go to place for...
