So thankful my partner and I stumbled upon this restaurant, especially because we made it just in time for dinner! I was surprised to see such a quality food and drink menu given its a bar and grill. I expected mainly burgers which they do have a great selection of, but there are equally as many options of quality entrees as well. They have a homemade alfredo pasta dish with gluten free spaghetti and lentil balls that I really wanted to try but I went for the Sriracha Shrimp with Pesto Alfredo and grilled bread and it did not disappoint! My partner got the Roasted Chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We also shared their house avocado fried french fries and mac n cheese as starters and that was also so tasty! For drinks, I got a French 75 and my partner got the Reposado Old Fashion. Our server Simon was so professional and speedy with all of the courses! He was also very helpful making suggestions of what to try and every course was fantastic. I really appreciated his patience as well allowing us to experience a full meal given they were closing and gave us to-go materials as we started getting full so we could easily wrap up. I did notice too there is a great variety of food options for vegetarians, GF, and pescatarians such as myself so that is a huge plus! This meal was the saving grace to a VERY long day of traveling and I would definitely go back again!

This iconic comfort food haven has been an Austin institution for decades, and it never disappoints. Since we came on the Monday before Thanksgiving, the huge fork standing in front was holding a turkey! I love the laid-back ambiance of this place, warm and filled with natural light. There’s a full bar, and while there are only a few beers on tap, I was able to get my favorite Austin-brewed hazy IPA. The menu has so many good choices you can’t go wrong. Number one recommendation? The FRIES. I’ve had them all over the world and Hyde Parks are the best! I got an order to eat there as well as a large order to bring home and reheat in the air fryer! I get fries every time, no matter what else I order. Other things I rotate through: the burgers, chicken fried chicken, bacon glazed meatloaf, the Asian chicken salad, and the Sonora salad. The sides are excellent, with my favorites being the buttermilk mashers, the grilled broccoli, and the cheddar poblano grits. The other thing I get every time has an odd name but is simply delicious: Wom Kim’s Peach Pudding. Just try it. The weekend brunch is also amazing. Join lots of Austinites in this weekly celebration.

Hyde Park Grill is an Austin icon that doesn't get the delicious respect it deserves. My GF and I went here on a Saturday around 6ish trying to get off the beaten path as eating out in Austin at a nice non-chainy restraint means hours long wait. Fortunately HPG wasn't overly busy, being nestled in HP neighborhood, we were able to get in easily. For how great the food was, it shouldn't have been that easy to get a table on Saturday evening! The Salmon Cakes (think crab cake) as an appetizer were without question the best savory cake I have ever had in my life. My GF had a Siracha Shrimp Pasta dish while I had the Redfish with a side of grits that I added Siracha shrimp to make it Shrimp and Grits! Such a great decision. Sides were Mac n Cheese and Collard Greens, both of which were too shelf in deliciousness! We had both eaten at HPG before, but hadn't had it in our normal restaurant rotation. But it definitely earned it's place in our rotation now!

I feel like we hit this place on an off night somehow...We were in town for work, and just wanted some place casual to eat. We chose this place because of the chicken fried steak reviews. When we first arrived, we weren't sure whether to seat ourselves, or wait to be seated. We stood inside the front door for a minute or two until the bartender saw us, then alerted the hostess, who was seated at the bar with her back to the door (we thought she was just a bar patron). She seated us and provided menus. It was then ten minutes until a server asked if we'd been helped. We hadn't been, although two waiters had been in and out of the room assisting folks seated at three other tables adjacent to ours. We went ahead and ordered drinks and food. Our drinks arrived, then our appetizer, onion rings, but no napkins or flatware. We went ahead and started eating them since it was fingerfood, but we got a bit greasy in the process without napkins. Had to flag down a waiter to ask for silverware. Our server apologized and tried to be attentive for the rest of our meal. The chicken fried steaks came out, and were tough and had lots of gristle, but we muscled through. Good flavor, good mashed potatoes, and I liked the jalapeno corn bread. DH had the mac and cheese. We finished and asked for the check. It came, but we waited another five minutes and no one ever came back to collect or process our credit card... we wentto the bar to check out. Overall, the food was fine, but the service stumbled pretty badly. We left feeling a little annoyed, like somehow, we weren't welcome there, although we were dressed similarly to other patrons, and we were friendly when we arrived. I guess every place has the odd funky night, this was just so many weird little hiccups in one visit. The place definitely seems to have a following, and that doesn't usually happen for no reason. Just wish we hadn't experienced the weirdness on our single...

I go to this restaurant all of the time. Each time I have gone lately it gets worse. No one greets you when you walk in. They will let you stand there with no acknowledgment which is awkward. The service is ok but I cannot say strongly enough the food is getting bad. I ordered a steak. The server did not ask me how I wanted it cooked. It was supposed to be a ribeye ,if I remember correctly, but when it came out it was the flattest steak I think I’ve ever seen, very poor quality. it was tough and cooked well over medium. I prefer medium Rare. Which I made the server aware of, and he basically walked away and said nothing about it if you’re going to serve steak you should serve a decent steak, ask how the person wants it cooked and cook it correctly. Their macaroni and cheese is the bomb, as it always is, but really there’s nothing else on the menu except possibly chicken fried steak or salmon that I would say is worth getting anymore. ( the salmon portion is always tiny) It seems the quality is just getting worse and worse. I will be honest and say I did eat my meal last night because I hadn’t eaten all day and I was starving and I was with an associate and didn’t want to cause a scene and send it back. Again, I had told Server that the steak was very overcooked and he didn’t respond and walked away so I didn’t see the point. I just let it go, I should not have. We then ordered chocolate cake which was horribly dry and the worst piece of chocolate cake I have had. We basically just ate the icing and kind of picked it apart but again for what they’re charging the food should be much much better than it Is. They also need to get staff that is friendly, greet you and makes you feel like they care if...
