We had my husband's Christmas party here. There were over 120 rsvp, and like 80 showed. Sorry, La Mancha! Having been to my fair share of company parties, I did not have high expectations. Usually, large parties don't get a good quality of food or service. My last manager party was around 30 people, and it was awful, pretty much inedible food! That party was not here! I would rather drive through somewhere than do a large party anymore based on the last few parties I've been to at other restaurants. So imagine my surprise when La Mancha was great! We were all seated comfortably. Even if everyone showed up, they still had the normal expectation of space in a restaurant. There was a small 2-sided buffet in the adjoining room which was well maintained and the food was really good!! There was chicken, beef, and they also had a vegetarian option of portobello mushrooms, which were yummy as well, vegetarian or not. They kept the sour cream, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and all the extras stocked. They didn't wait until people were scraping remnants before restocking either. They provided tres leches cake, which I did not try but heard good reviews. They also gave us a big enough dessert table for the desserts the company brought. My only feedback is that there weren't enough serving utensils on the dessert table. It's not a big deal and my only critique. The staff was polite and available. It was no issue getting a straw or napkins or a to-go box. Staff were pre-bussing dirty plates, which was appreciated. Even while people were starting to leave and the tables were getting cleaned up, the staff were nice and personable. Unfortunately, I was too caught up in the party to take pictures. Everyone seemed to have a good time and left nice and full. It's my first time here, and they left a great impression. Highly recommend them based on this experience. We are impressed! Thanks to La Mancha and the wait staff for taking such good care of us. And to the cooks for the...
Read moreI would really rather give 0 Stars due to the lack of customer service we experienced this evening. It's sad for me to have to write this but my husband and I have been coming here for years and never have we felt the shift of energy displayed here today. This came from not only the staff but also THE OWNER. Yes you read absolutely correct the owner acted as if we did not exist. He walked over and around us numerous times, asking if other customer's needed anything or if the service was going ok but when the time came to greet us he simply by passed us and went to the next table. This is really troublesome because I'm seeing more and more of this daily. I have honestly never been one to pull the race card but my husband and I are two people of color and until today we've dined at LA MANCHA several times and honestly the customer service has exceeded over and beyond our expectations. That is why we have continued to support year after year. But I guarantee you this was our last time here. The manager there did come over and explain that he is short staff and not really able to accommodate everyone like he would wish to. But nevertheless my husband and I can and will not ignore the fact that this happened today. So moving forward just as an FYI IF YOUR A PERSON OF COLOR I WOULD CONSIDER GOING TO ANOTHER TEX MEX PLACE IF YOU WANT...
Read moreA pal of mine recommended the margaritas and said it was child friendly, but I wasn't familiar with how it works and when I asked someone behind the bar, they said just sit down and a server would be right with me. Well, I was a single mom with a small child, and a server definitely did not come soon. Not to mention, other workers were sweeping up or hanging out nearby and ignoring me. I was a person with a wallet wanting to order a drink at a bar, and I was turned away. That's how I experienced it. So we just left after a few minutes at an outside table.
This place has always given me the impression that it wouldn't be awesome (a friend of mine lives nearby and my library branch is across the street) so I'll just drink my margaritas at home for less than $7 a piece.
I often struggle to figure out why certain bars and restaurants in this town stay alive and others go out of business when everyone likes them and they actually do a good job and serve a good product. But, it's not my business to figure all that out and life certainly isn't fair. I hope this particular place goes under soon and I don't say that often.
It's a busy place (central austin), so you'd better do your job well or be competitive remotely. Otherwise, I wish you'd make way for something better. Go hang out with Hillary Clinton or something and get...
