Visiting from Dallas and was looking for a place to try out Austin’s best Tex-Mex . This place is where you get authentic Mexican street food but with a modern touch and using high quality ingredients. I went there with my wife and we ordered their famous fries which are tossed with cohita cheese and served with 2 dips , the Fries came out hot and crunchy , the street corn was very good they mixed the corn with their queso and topped with cojita cheese and hot Cheetos ! That was cool , their signature queso was served with freshly fried chips and we finished that before the main entrees arrived . Since we were 2 we ordered 2 tostadas and shared them . The BARBACOA brisket and the hit friend chicken were both great but as a beef lover I would prefer the BARBACOA if I can only order 1. The meat was very tender and they topped with the right toppings to balance out the bread and meat . Getting the barbacoa quesadillas is a must try if you love meat and cheese and the tortillas gets crispy . Last but not least the churros came out out sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and with a side of their homemade caramel sauce . I’m not sure which was the best part but I had a great time and definitely coming back here again . I wish I was able to upload videos to show the sandwiches

First timer! Found this spot via Instagram and had to check it out for myself while I’m in town. I came in about lunch time, At first glance the restaurant is cozy and inviting. I was greeted immediately by the owner Mariha who was very sweet and kind. I ordered the popular La Tejana torta that was pretty good! Only thing I’d change is less sour cream for the next time as well as more pickled jalapeños. I ordered one pastor taco (tasty, corn tortilla was a little greasy for me but delicious and the pastor was cooked perfectly . Make sure to add some salsa on it.) I also ordered the sought after street corn! Certainly wasn’t bad but personally not my favorite. (Would still recommend trying it out!) To wash it all down i ordered a cup of icy agua de Jamaica which was really refreshing and tasty. Perfect for this warm Austin weather! Over all I say give La Plancha a chance! Located in an easy to find neighborhood, they offer a wide variety of delicious options and the environment is super chill. I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed!

I recently had the chance to try La Plancha found through my Offline membership, and it definitely lived up to its reputation for serving fresh, flavorful Mexican sandwiches. We ordered the **La Tejana**, **La Hawaiiana**, and a side of **guacamole and chips**. The **La Tejana** was a perfect blend of savory and spicy, with tender meat and a great balance of flavors. The seasoning was just right, and the portion size was generous. The **La Hawaiiana** was a pleasant surprise—sweet and savory with a nice hint of tangy pineapple, which paired perfectly with the seasoned meat. It was lighter but still packed with flavor. As for the **guacamole and chips**, the guacamole was creamy, fresh, and packed with that classic Mexican zest. The chips were crisp and thin just enough to make them the perfect complement to the guac. Overall, the food was satisfying, and the street food vibe was fun and authentic. I’ll definitely be returning to try more from their menu!

I had a most unpleasant experience here this morning. I have invited friends for a breakfast and we ended up in this place because we intended to have coffee at the next side shop and they said that after 9am food has to be ordered from this place. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese torta and asked if I could seat inside. Mind it that the place was empty, not one soul on the stools. The person attending asked how many people, and i answered 6. My friends had not even arrived, so obviously it was just me ordering at that moment. Immediately she said that we couldn’t sit inside, because I have ordered not much food (!). I got upset with this, added to the fact that earlier the same person had already kicked me out of the outside tables while I was waiting with my kids for the coffee to get ready. The curious thing is that the people from the coffee shop said that we need to order savory food from this place, so in my mind the tables were interchangeable. Anyway, I was talking the matter over with my husband, and again the same person asked us out of the place even before the food was ready, because she said me talking with my husband was getting her nervous. We went outside and after a few more chatting, we decided to cancel the order and leave. He went back inside and tried to cancel, but she said that she wouldn’t do it, because he have already ordered and paid for, and that in the meantime the order got ready. That got me smoking, because I have been badly treated from the start by such person. In the end, my husband just left the sandwich over the counter, said that we’re not coming back ever, and we left. We lost about $50 between coffees and the sandwich. My advice for all those that are still reading it: be careful when going to “trendy” places. Long waits, no sitting available, overpriced food and the worst customer service ever. I wish I could give...

Cute place and the staff is nice but we were wildly disappointed with the meal. For lunch We ordered; 1 torta, 1 taco, chips and queso and a side of street corn. We split one Coca Cola between the two of us. That was $60. (!!!!!!!!!!) we were both shocked that we would be splitting a lunch entree and 2 apps + a side and it would be $30/ person at a counter service restaurant. Beyond the pricing- the food was unimpressive! I actually asked the woman if their queso was off or how they intended it, it had the consistency of water, you couldn’t even scoop it with a chip. The tortas flavors were muddy and lacked the freshness and acidity normally found in Al pastor. The Barbacoa was ok, but nothing to write home about. The street corn seemingly had no additional seasoning beyond the crushed hot Cheetos, and the canned corn texture was off putting.

The Mexican Coca Cola was great, and the fries with the torta were super crispy. But there was a lot to be desired.

To be fair, My boyfriend said it seemed like an off day since he had previously had that torta and was impressed. Im slightly surprised to see so many positive reviews which really makes me think we got an off day, but I don’t foresee us returning to give it...
