I have a thing for cemeteries— I should have a bumper sticker that says “I brake for cemeteries.” Slightly run down and not well maintained (hence only 4 stars) but full of history and stories. I’m not from TX so likely did not recognize some of the names — there are several plaques throughout that provide historic info. Just don’t visit during the heat of the day!

the history here is a sobering experience. I encourage all my black and brown brothers and sisters to visit and pay respect to all our ancestors who suffered during our nation’s past.

My maternal grandmother is buried here, and I make it a point to visit her grave every year on her berfday, which is about a month before Halloween. Otne year I made the mistake of visiting after the sun set. I don't believe in ghosts, andI don't get creeped out by cemeteries, but hearing some of the noises I heard that night gave me pause. A heard a dog growling nearby, and then heard another that sounded like it was in heat or something so it actually sounded pretty scary, like a hound from hell. Also heard something moving around in the grass behind me that drove a shiver down my back. I quickly turned to see a possum that started hissing at me. And those things are kinda freaky-looking anyway. So, there's lots of nature here to trick your mind if graves aren't enough to...

This is the oldest cemetery in Austin and a great place for history buffs and paranormal investigators. Legend states that the first tenants were victims of a Comanche attack whose bodies were laid to rest on the same hill in the 1850s. Later on, dead paupers, who were used in medical experiments, were buried in unmarked graves on the cemetery's south side. In addition, graves without permanent markers were subject to reburial after a given period. Despite its protected status in the National Register of Historic Places, the cemetery has been subject to crime, vandalism and decay for decades. Locals believe that this troubled history has caused the cemetery...

Came here to ghost hunt at night right before they closed, me and my husband were the only 2 people there. We were standing by some very very old infant graves .. there where like 5 graves that all said the same DOB (quince?) that died like same day they were born or couple days after ( this was like 2 years ago- so don't remember the dates exactly).. and we were standing there recording the graves when all of a sudden we started hearing a lullaby song playing (caught it on our camera) and we couldn't tell where it was coming from. Don't know where it came from, only lasted about 5-10 secs.. either way its super creepy cool place to...
