I've been to this Maudie's twice now; I don't think I'll be back a third. As a former server, I know what good service is supposed to look and feel like; this place doesn't make the cut. Every other Maudie's I've been to has been great, but this location lacks more than just good customer service.
Firstly, this location is not kid-friendly. If a customer comes in with a child (which I often do), they shouldn't have to ask for a children's menu or a booster seat/high chair if the server knows they're available; they should be offered one. Also, I will clean up after my kid, I don't expect a server to have to do that because it really does suck; but if there's rice alllllll over the floor because you took fifteen minutes to bring the check after we'd already finished eating.. Well then that's all on you.
Secondly, I definitely don't appreciate that you leave your server book at our table from your last customers long after we've been seated. C'mon now, I got a kid here, he tears up your credit card tip, you get mad at me, etc. etc.; we can't have all that, plus it's taking up space, get it outta here.
And thirdly, could you at least pretend that you like your job? We all do it. I understand that being a server is hard work, believe me; but if your customers don't like your sour face and presence, they probably aren't going to come back and you aren't going to make any money.
No more North Lamar...
Read moreThis was our 1st time at the North Lamar location, even though we live blocks away! I think the other Maudie's i ate at was in The Triangle area, where N Lamar Blvd splits off and becomes Guadalupe! I was nicely surprised by how well they had managed to fit SO much into a small-ish space! The small but cozy bar right there as you walk in. Every space has table/chairs or a booth, and yet it didn't feel overcrowded at all, EVEN with a full packed house! All the servers & staff who welcomed us as we came in continued to make everything feel warm & inviting too. Even with ordering our food& my need to EXCLUDE anything that could remotely be spicey (WHY DO I DO THIS, i KNOW it's probably so funny to see me in a Tex Mex or Mexican food place when I'm a huge 'spice weenie'! Lol. We got our food REALLY quickly& mind you every single table was taken up, so many orders must have been going back! All the foods were super hot too! (i like them that way :D ) I think i ordered something like a spinach & mushroom quesadilla..and hooooo-boy that thing was SO guuuud! Came with guac & sour-cream, which made it even better! We'll DEF be back & hopefully I'll be able to convince my mom, dad, & sister to come check ya'll out next time they're in my area of Austin! And truthfully, i think I'd rather come here than Chuy's most days ;P Just don't let THEM know...
