I ordered a delivery via Doordash today. Four burgers and four fries. The driver only delivered one bag of food (the fries). I contacted the driver within 3 minutes of him dropping off the food to my house. He was incredibly rude and told me that it wasn't his problem. He told me that I had to contact the restaurant and they would deliver the rest of the food. I contacted the restaurant and spoke to an Asst Manager named Gabriel. He told me that it was a Doordash issue and I had to contact them. However, by this time, I could no longer contact my driver so I had no way to communicate with him again. While I understand that this was very likely a Doordash issue, Gabriel said there was nothing he could do for me either and was quite rude and emphatic about it. I explained the reason I was using Doordash was because I just had surgery and I cannot drive and asked him if there was anything he could do as I was just trying to feed my family. He basically said no and too bad and insisted that I keep trying to contact Doordash. The lack of empathy and insistence on not accepting any responsibility was just appalling. If you are going partner with Doordash for business, then you need to accept some responsibility as well. They are your business partner, and when a customer does not receive their order, they do not care about the blame game or whose fault it was. You need to whatever you can to make it right. As much as I love Phil's, I will not do business with...
Read moreWent back to Phil's after a forgettable meal there a few years back. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and my girlfriend ordered the Crunchy Fish Sandwich. My chicken sandwich was basically flavorless except for the sweetness of the roll. The chicken was overcooked and neither the chicken nor the breading had been seasoned. There were large outer iceberg lettuce leaves on it but none with crunch or texture. The tomatoes were very thin and appeared overly ripe. I asked for crispy fries (golden brown) but they were anything but, and they were in my girl's basket. I got her mixed fries (sweet potato and regular) with my basket. Her crunchy fish patty appeared to have been frozen and something you would expect at McDonald's. Her tomato was paper thin and the one outer lettuce leaf it had on it had turned to jelly being under the hot fried fish patty. Additionally, it was supposed to have been on a sourdough roll but, like my sandwich, it came on a sweet bun. Back to the fries: they were nothing to write home about and the only thing that kept me eating them was salt and ketchup. We didn't finish our fries but brought them home with us to feed to the raccoons in my backyard that visit nightly. I drive by Phil's daily and upon returning I was really hoping they would knock it out of the park, but in this case they grounded out and failed to wow me again. Overall we were disappointed and in hindsight we wished we had...
Read moreFirst time eating here as my wife and I came to town to visit our daughter and son-in-law. All our burgers were outstanding. Service was very friendly. Love that you can get half regular, half sweet potato fries mixed (why don't more places offer that?). They were great, too, especially the sweet potato fries. The iced tea was outstanding. We have found that for whatever reason, clear iced tea is an indicator of how a place is going to be and Phil's didn't disappoint.
The only negative was that this was literally the coldest restaurant we've ever been in. I mean ever. With high humidity outside air conditioners do tend to make everything even colder when running, but this was crazy town. Maybe the staff was hot in back and had cranked it to max, but with the setting on Arctic Circle, all the ceiling fans blowing on high, and two other oscillating fans blowing in the dining area it truly took away from the experience, and we weren't the only ones. When your food chills super fast and people are sitting on their hands in your dining room, that might be an indicator it's too cold. Just something to...
