I went to this particular Short Stop Wednesday, August 19th 2009 to grab a burger after running an errand in that area. I ordered a double meat burger, fries and a large frozen lemonade and the total came to a little over $6.00 I gave the guy my debit card and he asked me how much I wanted out, $10.00, $20.00 or $30.00 dollars and I asked why can't he just debit the exact total from my card and all he said was he can't. I told him $10.00. Upon receiving my receipt I realized it was an ATM transaction with an additional charge of $1.50! The next day I checked my bank and an additional $2.00 charge occurred bringing my total transaction to $13.50! in essence, I paid $9.50 for a burger, fries and frozen lemonade. There are no signs stating the additional fee to use your debit card nor was I warned by the guy assisting me. I have used my debit card at many short stops and other places like this and have NEVER had this happen. I'll no longer do business with Short Stop after this incident. (I frequent the Short Stop at Duval and 183) This seemingly insignificant incident is wrong on so many levels. Why do the other Short Stop's not do the same thing? Why can't they inform you so you can decide if you want to continue the transaction? I for one work hard for my money and this is just another way others get at my cash without my knowledge. Had I known about this before hand, I could have paid cash or simply said keep your...
Read moreThis Place has fallen off. I used to eat there close to 3 times a week -- now it is about twice a year, and really I don't think I will go back after this last time. I shouldn't have to ask for extra chili on my chili burger but time and time again they skimp on it and it is dry. Why even bother putting chili on it at all if you only want to put a little?? Anyway, the fries had no salt, and there wasn't a salt packet in the bag either, so I threw those away. Do I really have to ask for salt?? And also the coke was not even close to tasting like coke. It honestly tasted more like pepsi - but I know they will tell you they don't serve Pepsi. Well maybe not, but from the taste all I can assume then is that a syrup hose got swapped with the root beer or something at one time and after drinking it you would guess a few other things before you would think you were drinking coke. It was like no "cola" I have ever tasted before, and it was trash. I called, of course no answer. Then I called the complaint line and left a message - manager was supposed to call me back but no response. I'm done. They've lost my...
Read moreI probably eat more burgers than anyone, (i know it's bad I'm working on it I'm still young) anyways I'm a bit of a burger connoisseur and this place is honestly one of my favorites. Super solid burger, never anyone at any locations it seems like so typically it's a 2-3 minute stop to get the burger. Its always hot, nicely sized too.. really don't know why this place doesn't have lines like whataburger or McDonald's. Definitely better, same price basically. $13 for a double with fries and drink they are bout the size of Whataburger but better... If your family doesn't like burgers they do catfish on Thursdays and their chicken strips are good from what I heard too... Really surprised when I found this place about a year ago and will drive out of my way if I'm ever craving it. Nothing negative to say about anything which makes it the perfect drive thru burger joint. This goes for all locations, it's all pretty consistent which is great. Try it if you haven't and you like a...
