I was ready to give this restaurant a 5 star review, until I visited for just 2nd time this past weekend
It was my 2nd time ever in less than 10 days
The first time was for lunch, and this 2nd time was for dinner, and even when on my first visit ever, I had a good experience at lunch with the AYCE option, the 2nd time wasn’t as pleasant service wise
I went there for dinner on Friday night, and as soon as I entered, the hostess greeted me and kindly mentioned “sir, just want to let you know that it’s 9:10pm and the last call is in 20 minutes, are ok with that?” and I responded yes, that was totally fine with me
Then once I got seated, this older lady came to my table and started rushing me in a rude way, urging me to order because they were about to close, to which I responded, “ok, just give me a couple minutes to look at the menu” (remember it was just my 2nd time, so I wasn’t familiar at all with the extensive menu), but she kept insisting me to hurry, as if she was talking to a little kid
Once I ordered the first couple rolls, she came back to rush me again, I was getting upset because of her treatment, but I kept my cool
I need to point that the rest of the staff was nice and courteous, the girls bringing the rolls to my table and this nice guy always smiling and checking if everything was ok
Buy it was this older lady who seemed to be in a hurry, and when they brought the 2nd round of rolls, I was finishing the 1st ones and then moved the used dishes to the side of the table and started eating the 2nd round, she just came to the table and without asking, she just reached for those dishes stretching all the way across my eating space, which I found rude and disrespectful, not by the side, not by the front, but just on top
Soon after, she brought the check and once again was rushing me to pull the payment so she could take it to the cashier
I know they close at 10pm, but it’s not like I was gonna leave until midnight, indeed, I left the place at 9:55, which means I only spent 45 minutes there since I arrived until I left
Needless to say that I didn’t enjoy my dinner, not because of the lack of time, but because of the unpleasant harassment by this older lady
It’s a shame because the food is good, and so is the rest of the staff, but it’s because of single elements like this person, that businesses get a bad reputation
I’d like to point that I live within walking distance of Tomodachi Sushi, and even when I love Tomo, I wanted to give Sushi Junai a try because I heard good things about it, but after this experience, I don’t think I’d go back any time soon, so I’d stick to the professional and courteous treatment I receive at Tomo every single time, even if I get...
Read moreWe joined the wait list at 7:53pm and were told it would be about a 25 min wait. We were not seated until 9pm. If there's over an hr wait, fine, but don't set a false expectation by telling the customer 25 min. No sooner than getting our drinks? We were told that last call for all orders was at 920pm. Multiple servers came to take our order over the next couple minutes. It was obvious they were trying to rush us. We hurriedly ordered an appetizer and a couple rolls each with the 1st server and then added a couple other things with the next server that stopped by since it was made clear we were on a strict timeline. The staff all seemed very disorganized with confusion, of course not knowing what the others had already done or not since they were jumping into each other's customers. It created a very chaotic atmosphere which wasn't helped when a staff member carrying a huge stack of dishes dropped them all right next to our table, creating a huge crash that sounded like a bomb went off right next to us. Then our main order began arriving.... in bits and peices... even though we had not yet even recieved the appetizer. Also it was being delivered by yet a diff person who wasn't even who'd taken any of our orders. By the time the appetizer arrived, we just sent it away since it was pointless by then. By we were made to feel so uncomfortable that we didn't even want to be there anymore and just asked for the check and to-go boxes for what was already on the table. Upon the server bringing the bill back to be signed, I noticed we were being charged for a roll that we never even recieved. She said she'd correct it and then disappeared forever, finally returning with the amended bill and explained we were being charged for both bills now but the 1st one will drop off our card after several days. Great.... so now we're basically having more than double the cost of this horrible experience being taken from the bank account until then. After walking out, I realized we were only given a copy of 1 of the receipts. I went back in to get the other copy and was treated very rudely by a large male server who actually took off his mask and got into my face, aggressively invading my personal space and making me feel very threatened. They finally found the other receipt and I left, making it clear we would never come back there again. I wish there was a rating lower...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT! I went to Ayce with my boyfriend and we were immediately surprised by the menu, which was not at all adaptable to this type of order. Like 8 identical pieces??? The right thing to do is to have the option of eating a little bit of everything, but no one can eat 8 pieces of each type of sushi. As if this inconvenience wasn't enough, they have a system of writing down what we want on a piece of paper and we were immediately surprised by the waitress saying that it was better for her to write it down and every time we picked up the paper she came and my boyfriend had to write it down in a hurry (and that's okay, there are always waiters with no sense or social tact) but the worst of all is that we didn't know what we were eating because it didn't match what we ordered and WE FORGOT BECAUSE MAYBE SHE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND OUR ENGLISH AND GUESS WHAT?? SHE STARTED TO EMBARRASS US BY ASKING IF THE FOOD WAS """ENOUGH"""" (????) Out of nowhere she said "this is enough" and collected the papers, which we were super shocked at! Simply horrible! And soon she showed up with the bill saying that the system prints it and laughing and being inconvenient! We were eating and she stayed at our table the whole time without us calling her. (also, the menu was not clear about the fish eggs which we DEFINITELY DID NOT LIKE and she kept asking if we didn't like it and that it was good and that everything was fine, again! we hadn't been able to eat it and were "wasting" it, but it was still extremely weird) and finally, they came to ask for the card to pay on the spot, even though we hadn't even stayed 50 minutes and we paid for 90 minutes and we felt bad and paid to leave and after that THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO ASK FOR A TIP AND ASKED FOR IT WHAT! LIKE, WASN'T IT EMBARRASSING AND RUDE ENOUGH??? THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE, WE DIDN'T HAVE THE FREEDOM TO EAT AT ANY TIME AND THEY WANTED A TIP???? NO, THAT'S TOO MUCH AND THEY STILL STARED AT US AND WHEN WE LEFT THE RUDE LADY LOOKED AT US AND...
