Love this place. Meant to come for a long time but never got around to it. Kept slipping my mind. Went there last month and was really good. Definitely not cheap, but great cocktails. I really like mezcal and they did some tasty things with it. One drinks that I was curious about was the one with mezcal *and* absinthe both in it and the bartender (who was super nice) said it was actually probably her favorite one and they balanced each other out in a surprising way. Tried it and it was super good.We had four different cocktails total (two of us) to just try different ones. Haha. The one with absinthe was definitely my favorite of them all. Also have had some mezcals to just sip on neat. The little place is awesome too. Great atmosphere. Pretty knowledgeable folks. Little tiny intimate room you can go into in there as well. Will totally come back again.

Small, atmospheric, specialized tequila bar located above a great Mexican restaurant. The bar has happy hour Tuesday through Friday 5p-7p and all day Sunday. Their cocktail and shot list is diverse, drawing from their theme spirit. For example, their happy hour menu features an excellent margarita whose flavor is definitely out of the norm for Austin. The small bar room and patio can fill up, so arrive early to avoid a wait. The stairs to the bar are between the two buildings at this street corner, on the opposite side from the main entrance to Mi Madre. They share a few free parking spaces around the building and there is free parking on adjacent streets.

This is my favorite mezcal bar in town because the bartenders actually know their stuff, unlike some of the other places in Austin. I really like their mezcal cocktails that highlight the smoky flavor of the mezcal, but they also have really good micheladas. This last time I went, they had Charro, a Mexican Pilsner that I’ll be sure to be look out for now because it was so good! The place is also a vibe with a dark, intimate room where the bar is, as well as a shaded patio outdoors.

This is a tiny, hidden rooftop bar that is on top of Mi Madre’s Tex Mex restaurant. You go up the stairs located on the outside of the building too a little rooftop deck, then there is a small room and the bar is inside of there. This is a dark bar with little nooks where people can have more privacy. The drinks were great! The “speak easy” vibe was really fun too. The best part about this bar though? They have the menus to School House Pub (located downstairs, next door) at the bar and you can order food from there! You have to go downstairs and walk next door to School House Pub, you put in your food order and pay there and tell them you’re at Techo. Then you go back upstairs to Techo and wait for your food. The waiters at School House Pub will leave that restaurant, come upstairs to Techo and deliver your food. I had some amazing happy hour fish and chips (to die for fried fish and French fries) at Techo!!!...

love, Love, LOVE this place!

At the top of a staircase hidden in the schoolhouse pub patio, you will easily pass over this place if you do not know what you are looking for.

It's small! So be prepared to get cozy!

It's authentic! So be prepared to be transported into a different culture!

It's HIGH QUALITY! So be prepared to pay top dollar for the very best authentic top shelf mexican tequilas and mescals that Austin has to offer!

I don't say this lightly at all. Just look at my reviews, I'm hard to please! So, trust me when I say this place is 100% worth your time, money, and effort!

Bottom line, you can't call yourself an Austin Bar expert without visiting and absolutely LOVING this place!

I've been here before, I went here tonight, and I'll...
