I got a wild hair and decided to use my Too Good To Go app to cure my cabin fever. I was too late to grab my order (as usual), but decided to venture inside anyway. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was not what I experienced. The place is in an unremarkable red brick shopping center that does not reflect what one finds inside. In fact, when I walked in I walked right back out to make sure I was in the right place. The interior is like a night club featuring a minimalistic stage at the far end of the room and lots of small black bar tables with matching chairs. The whole place is painted black giving it a sleek, chic feeling. They have four large screen TVs that at the time were boasting art pieces from various artists, however I imagine they are a very good place to catch whatever sports enterprise is in season. I went during off hours and they also just opened (this being their second location) so the only person seated was what I presume is the owners child doing homework. He politely greeted me upon entering and as I approached the bar-like counter a dapper man came out of the back to see if he could help me. He looked at my phone and very kindly told me I was too late to grab my order from the service I had gotten it from and gave me instructions on how to deal with that issue in the future. He then offered me a sample of his wings, of which he had many flavors to choose from. When he brought it out to me I was surprised by the size of it, as well as how beautiful it looked. Many wing purveyors err on the side of budget and choose cheap, low quality wings because they are so easy to hide under the breading and flavoring. Not so at The Potluck, this chicken was very high quality, robust, juicy and fresh. The seasoning and garnish were done expertly and his assessment of what flavor profile I might enjoy was spot on. He also had listed a variety of sides including gumbo and various fry recipes. I ended up getting the Mardis Gras fries and the flavor I had sampled, the Loose Cannon Wings. They were spicy but not too spicy, a bit sour and a bit sweet-- exactly what I was craving. My order took no time at all and the man who brought them out to me was so convivial and kind, I felt I was in his home, not his workplace. The owner too was so hospitable and I found out upon getting home, generous too. I had only ordered a 10 piece but the to-go box had extra wings in it. He informed me that they have comedy events and music there often and I could feel the sense of pride and joy he had in his business. I will definitely be coming back and think that the food is so well done that when I crave wings, it will be specifically these wings that I must have. I truly enjoyed my experience and hope anyone who reads this goes and tries it for themselves. You'd be supporting good people by buying a great...
Read moreI have never been more disappointed by this place. The wings are tiny, over cooked and under seasoned. Whoever is making the decisions for this business should be fired. This place used to be good but now they’re just serving overpriced slop. I came in with my girlfriend and the guy taking our order stared at her the whole time, creep. This place used to serve the best wings and now they’ve turned into a shallow shell of what they used to be. If you would like to get 2 of a kind of a wing you can’t, if you want get multiple of anything you have to get 5 wings. 5 wings, why literally why. I’m not paying another 15 dollars for 5 wings that I only wanted a couple of. Not to mention they ripped me off I payed for 12 and got 10 so like you guys suck. Shout out to the food truck though they’re cool. Anyways I will never ever be...
