Sorry Pueblo Viejo. Second time here. My first time I liked the atmosphere and the food. The food had good flavor but a little lacking and the quantity was not up there. It is pricey for some things. So I tried them again. Tried to call in an order, was told to hold, phone put on the counter. 20 minutes later, after arriving at the restaurant still on hold, the hostess was at the cash register and the phone next to her was me, still on hold. There was only two people in the restaurant. What? I ordered 2 bacon and egg tacos. It rand up more than is advertised. This was a discussion with her and I pointed out that she overcharged me. She said she could not do anything about it because the manager set the price in the machine not her. Strike one. I also ordered chips with guacamole. The chips were oily, the guacamole was actually a half of an avocado partially smashed with a fork a couple of lime wedges on some shredded greens. No seasonings at all. Very bland! No salt or pepper. Nothing. The tacos were supposed to be $5.00. My total bill was over $14.00. What!!! I tried to leave a tip, it only allows you to leave a percentage if paying by card. So I could not even leave just a whole amount like $1.00. So it ended up leaving her 12%. For what though. I was overcharged. Left on hold forever while the store wasn't busy. Argued with. Extremely disappointing guacamole and by the way, my skimpy eggs were seriously overcooked and two bacon ends were burnt to a crisp. Strike two and Strike...
Read moreAs an out-of-town visitor, we selected this establishment during our return journey. Upon reviewing the online reviews, we found the establishment to be highly rated. I personally believe that this is an exceptional taco place. The tacos are exceptionally flavorful, well-seasoned, and presented. The quality of the cheese used in the tacos is particularly noteworthy. I prefer white grated cheese, although yellow melted cheese is not my favorite personal choice. We ordered migas, which were delicious. We also ordered the taco Bueno, which included chorizo, potato, and cheese. It had a very good seasoning and good balance of ingredients. At the counter, you can find a creamy Serrano salsa that can be a good condiment for the Tacos. The coffee had a strong and flavorful taste, which is a significant advantage. However, I would suggest that the restaurant could enhance its ambiance by reducing the volume of the music playing. The current music selection resembles that of a Mexican cantina, which can be challenging for patrons to engage in conversation. I politely requested that the manager lower the volume, but the response was inadequate. The music remained at a high level, even after my request. Furthermore, the restaurant should consider the diverse preferences of its customers when selecting music. Not all patrons may appreciate the same genre of music. Overall, I recommend this place for a last-minute on...
Read moreThis is just what I imagined when I thought of Tex-Mex. So many taco options, and it seems like the breakfast tacos are the ones to get, as well as quesadillas, gorditas, burritos, and salsas for purchase. Initially I wasn't sure if we were in the right place, because it looks a bit like a warehouse outside. Then we entered, and there was a taco counter. We ordered and then entered the seating area, which looks like it is also a performance space. We were just having a quick brunch before leaving Austin, and this was a very good last meal.
$3.40 Al Pastor - marinated pork, pineapple, onion, cilantro, lime: Great! Sweet, tangy, juicy
$3.20 Taco Viejo - chorizo, potato, egg, beans: Good! I had to order the namesake, and of course I had to try a breakfast taco. It's very simple, a little spicy from the chorizo, and the beans and potatoes help keep the taco fillings glued to the tortilla.
$8.20 Migas Plate - beans, potatoes, cheesy egg scramble with tortilla chips: My friend ordered this because she's not a big fan of tacos, and more into healthy food, but it still has cheese and fried tortilla chips. It looked pretty tasty to me!
I was thinking two tacos would be satisfying, but not too heavy, but these are pretty big. I would definitely come back the next time...
