Wildly expensive and not that good.
Got 2 large and 1 small sub with no sides or drinks and the total was $48 before tip. And their system defaults to a 25% tip. A big joke all around.
I love sandwiches and I went to Tuccis because a friend recommended it. I split the jalapeño cheesesteak and the classic Italian. The classic Italian was good, but nothing special. The cheesesteak was really disappointing.
Most cheesesteaks have sizeable thin slices of meat coated in cheese that create an awesome texture with all the layers of thinly sliced meat and any vegetables. The filling on Tuccis cheesesteak was textureless slop. The pieces of meat were small and they had mixed in so much sautéed onion that the result was more of a meat and onion mush than anything else. I love onion in all its forms but the ratio of onion to meat was grossly out of proportion. Any cheese was hardly noticeable. The product was closer to a meat pie than it was to a cheesesteak.
Also to note, they have two kinds of bread: white and wheat. When I went during the middle of lunchtime, they were out of white for the day.
Would I eat the food again? Yes, but I sure...
Read moreI have tried it twice. When it first opened years ago in Oak Hill, I walked in ,saw the prices and walked out. My friend loves it so I was talked into going back. I got the large Philly. Not good at all. Delaware's was much better (used to be in the same spot). He told me I should have gotten the spicy Italian. I realize that sandwich shops (not Subway like) are expensive nowadays so 7 years later or so I decided to give it another shot. Still more expensive than most sandwich shops by about $2.50 (for a large) but I was already there. They were out of white bread. Call me a traditionalist but an Italian sandwich should not be eaten on wheat. That and I don't like wheat bread. I left. To be fair the people there were SUPER friendly on both visits. Just not the sandwich shop for me.I ended up going to HEB and bought fresh baked Italian bread, Boar's Head Italian cuts and cheese for half the price. Just don't understand how you do not have a basic ingredient for a...
Read moreThere are two types of people in the world: those who rate Tucci's with 5 stars, and those who are wrong... and sad. This is literally the world's best sandwich, bar none. Try the Gourmet Italian with Pepperoni and Hotsweet Cherries and I defy you to not encounter the supernatural. No kidding, this place is so good, my wife sent me here hours after our child was born at Seton SW to get her an Italian Beef with au jus. You read that right, I left my wife and infant daughter in the hospital hours after deliver to get a sandwich, and guess what, it was the right decision. Do yourself a favor. Stop whatever it is you are doing, go meet David Tucci, and learn what a...
