Really disappointed with the service here. I was here today for the first time and ordered just one drink online at the juice bar truck. The website gave me an estimated time of 15 minutes. After 20 minutes, it still said in progress online and I noticed that no other customers had picked up drinks during this time so I went up to the truck and had to knock on the window to get someone's attention. I asked if I was supposed to get a text when my drink is ready or if I'm just supposed to go up and check because I hadn't received any online update. The woman in the truck asked me what my name and drink was and scrolled through their orders tablet and couldn't find it at first. She hadn't even looked at my order at all in the 20 minutes I spent waiting for that one drink. She poured my drink, which took about 5 seconds. She then found my order on the tablet and confirmed to me that it was there. I asked why this took 20 minutes. She said she didn't speak English very well and didn't fully understand me and I tried to explain in Spanish but I don't speak enough Spanish to properly convey that this was a problem. I asked for a refund multiple times in English because I don't know the Spanish word and she weirdly happily refused. I asked why I can't get a refund and all she kept repeating was "no" and "no, it's okay." I don't know if she understood what I was saying because the way she answered didn't make sense. It was almost rude sounding. Imagine if someone asks you if something is wrong and you happily/contently say "no" in an upbeat tone like if nothing is wrong. That's the way she was answering, which is not the tone you would expect if you're asking someone for a refund for a legitimate problem that is the vendor's fault for not paying attention to your order. It was not a pleasant experience and I can't believe I had to deal with this kind of attitude. Not even taking responsibility for not bothering to look at their tablet orders. I don't...

There are a few Veracruz locations throughout the city, but my friends and I stopped here for some quick food on the way to meet up with the rest of our group. We arrived about 40 minutes before they closed, were able to order pretty quickly. Veracruz uses the electronic buzzers to alert folks when their orders are ready, so it reduces any accidents around missing when their food is called out. The location in general is a great vibe, and the school bus is quite an aesthetic.
The menu is straightforward and there are some solid options! The folks inside the bus are really helpful with making good recommendations, especially around tortilla selection for the various tacos. You really can't go wrong with any tacos, just pick based on your interests! I'd recommend getting 3 tacos if you're looking for a standard meal. Their drinks are also fantastic!
The outdoor seating is great, and there are fans which are always appreciated in the Texas heat. One caveat... the flies in this area were awful for some reason. Not sure if it is where Veracruz is located, or if it was just the day we were there, but we could not get the flies to leave us alone! As a result, it turned into a mad dash to finish eating as soon as possible, which did detract from the eating experience. Additionally, it took 25-30 minutes for us to get our orders which was a little disappointing as well, since there were only a couple of other folks getting orders ahead of us.
Overall, I'd say Veracruz is definitely worth a try (especially if you're looking to get some food and head to...
Read moreMy fiancé and I are from out-of-state and came to Austin to visit family in the area. We knew tacos were a must and decided on Veracruz after reading all the great reviews. Veracruz is a truck located in a small food truck park with 2 other vendors. There is ample seating with shade from overhead tarps and trees.
I got fish and shrimp tacos while my fiancé got fish, grilled steak, and al pastor tacos. Each taco was generously stuffed, which we appreciated.
My fav was the fish, on a corn tortilla as recommended by the cashier - juicy, well seasoned, and what you'd expect/want from a grilled fish taco.
We also loved the grilled steak taco, this one on a flour tortilla - it had the punches flavor of the bunch and the steak was nice and tender.
Al pastor on flour tortilla is one option we'd pass on. The pineapple juice used to tenderize the pork was too prominent and all we tasted was pineapple.
Lastly, we both thought the shrimp on corntilla was the worst of the bunch; the seasoning is... different, almost bitter. I wouldn't get the shrimp again.
We also decided to try a drink and went with the most popular green fresh juice, another recommendation by the cashier. It's supposed to have a bunch of veggies and fruits in it but all we tasted was celery. It was also kinda fibrous (I wish they strained it). I'd pass on this juice too unless you love the taste of celery.
All that said, we'd still come back in the future, but only for the fish and steak tacos. The service was erring on slow (we waited 30 minutes during a not-super-busy lunch time) but they were friendly.
These are my two cents but eat whatever makes...
