Sundae Best Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Avalon

I had the best ice cream I've had in a long time and incredible customer service! First...the young man who served my family tonight (around 8pm on June 24th) was probably the younger of two brothers working there tonight. He was great! Having a nut allergy kid makes things tricky and this guy put us at ease! So kind! He was already a pro...and the season has barely begun!

Regarding the ice cream...my son got the cookies and cream. It looked amazing! So many cookie pieces! As it should be. My dad got his favorite, black raspberry. He said it was great! And after reading other reviews I ordered "It's All Good". And it was better than good! It was a lovely, creamy, rich vanilla flavor with peanut butter and perfectly salty chocolate covered pretzels in a sugar cone.

(Btw...I was very good at washing up later so I didn't get peanut butter on my kid! I promise I am very careful, just have to indulge in my love of peanut butter every now and then!)

My only advice for this ice cream shop is to publish what's in the different flavors somewhere (not all the ingredients..but the components that make up the ice cream flavor). Their website could easily provide this (and they could probably write it in a fun and very enticing way). The store was so busy I couldn't even see most of the ice creams. I'd at least like to know which are vanilla based and which are chocolate (or other base flavors). I had to ask. Thankfully our ice cream pro was great at answering questions!

Sundae Best is seriously one of my favorite places in Avalon! They have two locations in town and both are absolutely amazing. We stop by every time we’re there, sometimes more than once in a day!

Their ice cream is hands-down the best. So creamy, so fresh, and they have such a great variety of flavors. I love that they’re always mixing it up with new combos, but still keep the classics around. There’s always something exciting to try.

And I have to say their coffee is just as good as their ice cream. Their lattes are delicious, smooth, strong, and made with love. It’s become my go-to coffee stop in town.

Chris, the owner, and his family are the sweetest. You can tell they really care about their customers and put so much heart into what they do. It just feels good to support a place like this.

The ice cream at Sundae Best is really good! This review is for the rest of the experience. We haven’t been here in years, and showed up to find out that they are still using outdoor ordering that was started during COVID. This means that you can’t sample or see the flavors, which is a huge deterrent - especially for the cost of their scoops.They also do not have flavor descriptions listed in person or online. Because your order is brought out on a tray, they also do not offer regular cake cones. It’s also important to note that they do not have kids sizes, which means we were paying for a too-big for my toddler, full size and full price scoop of ice cream. We would love to come back because the ice cream itself really is delicious, but all of these factors mean we’ll probably continue getting ice...
