I cannot understand why someone who makes decent enough ice cream can't bother to rid the place of the odor of their cleaning product. I've seen some huge healthcode violations. When the owner isn't there, they couldn't care less about customer service. I don't know how this is even possible, but the hand-packed and the pre-packed pints both smelled and tasted like the same nasty smelling cleaning product. There is clearly some serious cross-contamination with their cleaning process. Just touching the outside of the container made my hand smell like the same cleaner. Days after being in my freezer. One time I went there. There was a young girl behind the counter. Another young girl walked in behind me. Her long sweatshirt sleeves and her long hair hanging in he ice cream container. She didn't wash her hands. She just walked right in and helped herself. She and her friend were chatting. I had to ask her to do her job and serve me.. there was...
Read moreWent there tonight at around 8:30 pm and after walking in, zero acknowledgement for a few minutes by Katherine when she had her back turned to us the whole time. Was rude the entire time and then proceeded to slam the ice cream door shut and slam the hot fudge container shut. She rolled her eyes at us multiple times and was annoyed that we were asking questions about trying a flavor or about the sundaes.
Refused to give us 2 flavors in a sundae and also said we had to get whipped cream on top of our sundae. It's actually cheaper to order a hot fudge sundae without whipped cream than ice cream with hot fudge but she wouldn't allow that which doesn't make any sense. It was after a question about this that the attitude became worst. We walked out with hot fudge all over the outside of the ice cream bowl as well.
Not sure if she was having a bad day but not a way to treat customers. Honestly the worst my wife or I have been treated since living in CT for...
Read moreJ. Foster has to be one of the best ice cream makers in Connecticut. We have never been disappointed in the flavor and quality of their ice cream. There are a lot of lacklustre ice cream places serving flavorless or mediocre ice cream, but J. Fosters is good old fashioned handmade goodness. They have many classic and creative flavors and all are made with quality ingredients. Itâs a cute little shop and easy to eat indoors or outside in the warm months. Their staff is a bit young and often lack a bit of people skills but are helpful and scoop ice cream well (pretty much what the job requires). My favourite flavors are strawberry and heath bar crunch, but everything is good. They even have good tasting low carb and sugar...
