Stopped in after a long drive. First time sitting at the bar which was packed since it was happy hour. Wonderful experience from the polite patrons who saw my partner was going to have to stand as there was only one seat available, and they all moved down the row so he could sit down. Thank you.
Our two martinis were exceptional. Love a bartender who knows how to make drinks correctly. Market Place Avon has a festive vibe with fine interior design as I've mentioned before. The food is always spot on.
A rare November day in the low sixties and sunny, driving around I told my partner we had to go eat somewhere outside to enjoy this moment. More easily said then done, as many restaurants are closed on Mondays! Ticking off one eatery after another on our quest, most had no outdoor seating or had closed for the season. Market Place Avon was both open and had place settings on their outdoor patio!
Asking reception if we could sit outside, we were told they were closing this up but would ask the owner. He came back with a yes answer. We picked the table that would be getting the most sun before setting. A waitress hurriedly removed all other table settings.
We ordered two cocktails at $15. each. For this price, please fill them up. Reordered the filet mignon toast appetizer, as noted in my prior review. Still good. Both our taco dishes were satisfying. My ahi tuna tacos with flour tortillas were what they should be, and my partner's fried fish tacos with corn tortillas had plentiful fish but could have used an accompanying sauce. I'm not sure fries are the right side for tacos, but they were okay.
Service was fair at best. Our initial server seemed the most helpful. The second bussed food. The third couldn't even manage to bring us a simple candle, after seeing her inside through the glass doors with dozens on a tray dispensing them to tables occupied or unoccupied. She said, no, I can't bring you one... those are just for the inside. Note to owner: a one hundred dollar late lunch for two, outside or not, bring a votive/tea light to your patrons.
In the vicinity, a spontaneous decision to eat at Market Place Kitchen and Bar in Avon after our first choice was still only doing take-out, turned out to be a good one. My partner had eaten at their other locations and told me I'd like the food they serve. He was right. The interior is gorgeous. Love all the wood, the big skylight in the center, the long copper mesh insert in the ceiling - a vent or just architectural design, the open kitchen and the private room with its fireplace and Japanese style pocket doors.
Ordering drinks, I didn't notice their special margarita was made with habanero infused tequila. I couldn't get past a sip nor could my partner, so they were kind enough to replace it with regular tequila.
Unbelievable in taste is the filet mignon toast appetizer. It's a ten. We split it but this could easily be ordered and eaten by one person as a smaller dinner. Served on a garlic demi baguette with gorgonzola cheese sauce, crispy onions, baby arugula and a cabernet demi glace, it's heavenly. We savored every bite. This will make my top ten appetizer list if I make one.
Asking about the duck taco special, our waitstaff couldn't comment as duck was usually an entrée on their menu. The two tacos were okay, but I'll get duck here again when it's a full dinner. The sweet potato fries that came with the tacos were perfectly fried and seasoned.
The 8 oz. MP Angus beef burger with cheddar, mixed greens, red onion, tomato and garlic aioli on a brioche bun had nicely defined flavor. The right crispy char on the outside and the true taste of good beef. A little dry, but medium well as ordered. The flavor was so incredible I asked, who cares? He agreed and had no trouble finishing it along with his regular fries.
As usual no dessert for us, but the menu had many choices that were unique and promising for those ordering this course. The mixed berry pie was sold out. A rainy evening, the place was hopping on this Friday night. Definitely a place...
Read more(Last visited 11/5/2022.) During the month of November our community manager at the time set up something called #Nachovember where certain restaurants could put a specific nacho on their menu and when you checked in you had the chance to buy it for only $5.00! We had been here before for multiple Yelp Elite Events, so this review in no way reflects anything that happened at those events. This review is based upon our paid service on our own...
Atmosphere/Appearance: It was a beautiful overly warm fall day so we chose to sit outside. There is a private parking lot, but it's shared with a few other businesses so you'll find parking, no worries. Once in I'm immersed in a very large, open room which I loved. It felt like I was in a ski lodge or somewhere in Veil, CO. Lol. Light woods, stone walls, fireplaces and all kinds of stuff! We sat outside of course since the weather was nice and it was delightful.
Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we had no issues with service at all.
Food: Here's where we start losing stars... We checked out their Chicken & Waffles. The chicken was dry, it was crunchy and tough. C'mon now. The waffle was also just a dry. There wasn't enough butter or syrup in the world to help it out. However, our $5.00 nachos were on point indeed! It was a smaller portion of their Blackened Chicken Nachos which contain blue corn tortilla chips, Vermont white cheddar, caramelized onions, guacamole hot cherry peppers, arugula and a truffle aioli. These were excellent. Next up was the Steak Sandwich. This is described as a prime New York strip, Tillamook cheddar, caramelized mushrooms, onions and served on a garlic bread baguette. There was WAY too much bread or WAY too little steak. The steak also wasn't very hot. Taste was fine, but it is what it is. Lastly was the "Breakfast Skillet", which didn't come in a skillet at all, but the nachos did. Strange. Anyway, it's three organic eggs scrambled with spinach, sea coast mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheddar, crispy potatoes and some bacon. Aye... despite that trash I just talked, this was delicious. Everything was cooked well, seasoned and very flavorful. Filling as well.
Value: This place is right in the middle. Not too expensive, not cheap either, but a happy medium and I'll say everything we got was worth what we paid... if the improvements I recommended would be made.
In conclusion, this place is fine. Maybe brunch isn't their thing or maybe we came on an off day, but I'd be willing to try this place again, especially since we had such good experiences the other times that we came. Check this place out if you're in the area. Granted, this review is 2 years old and some major changes could've been...
Read moreThis place was beyond amazing. I have been here personally for food with friends before but never for an event. I used this place for my 2 month old baby’s baptism luncheon. (On st Patrick’s day) Shannon, the event manager was absolutely fabulous to work with. She even followed up with me after her first email since I have a terrible memory and forgot to reply to the first outreach. She made the whole event super easy and seamless. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. I am a new mom with a 2 month old so complicated processes will never get done. Shannon made everything super easy and friendly. She was available by phone and email. Any questions I had she comfortable to ask and when I changed the salad she made it seem like it was nothing. I cannot say enough great things about her. (P.s this place was extremely well priced too for absolutely FABULOUS food) The day of, we were 30 minutes early and the room was all ready for us and let us choose whether to be in the room or hang out at the bar. Jackie was our waitress and she was amazing! I am a neurotic mom who can’t remember anything and she totally helped me out. When I was walking around talking to guests she brought the drinks to me. She was beyond professional, kind, helpful and nice to all of our guests and us and our family. We got TONS of compliments on Jackie and the food. We got the bronze package and replaced the salad with a Cesar salad, the chicken plate, steak and pasta bolognese. Delicious! They were the perfect portions and super tasty. Again, we cannot say enough great things about Jackie! We had extra people show up and within moments she had spaces created for them. She and her team were great and I hope she knows how wonderful she made the day!
Pictures Inclided, sorry for the people in them, was trying to show the ...
