June 2025 - Smokey tender Carne Asada, Enchiladas De Mole Poblano with chicken, and the Mexican quesadilla with chicken take-out show this restaurant still makes great food.

Cinco de Mayo 2023 - enjoyed the flaming margarita, shrimp fajitas and ground beef enchiladas.

March '23 - 3 different enchilada dinners all good - Bandera, Rancheras & Suizas. New margarita menu. I preferred the old one. Great classic cocktail menu, however.

August '22 - one more fine dinner for three.

Early October dinner outdoors with shrimp fajitas for two was very enjoyable. Thanks for the birthday dessert.

Love this place whenever we eat here. Another beautiful afternoon seated outdoors this September day brought us friendly prompt service, two fine margaritas and delicious food.

Eating dinner here let us see this festive restaurant with its evening lighting. Very nice. Our orders were Arroz Con Polo, a special - Lomo Asado Mixto, (steak & shrimp) and Carnitas De Puerco. I'm still in search of the best carnitas I've ever had for years in SoCal at El Gringo's in Hermosa Beach. Their pork tacos left us all speechless. Visiting TX two years ago, I hoped the SW would provide this, but no. Maybe there isn't much demand here. Looking forward to our next meal!

Returning to Avon, I maintain this is the best Mexican food. Eating inside, the interior design and décor brings patrons right into Mexico. Pacifico on tap! Painted ceramic tiles, Mexican art and murals, brick walls, arched windows, beaded and glass star hanging lamps, and a large selection of spirits with glowing bright green blocks under the length of the bar, transports diners to the SW or a Mexican resort.

Patrons have the option of fresh guacamole made tableside. Another plus. My medium margarita "Perfect Patron" was...perfect. My partner had a Tamarind. Starter: four mini Tacos Jonathan with carne asada, cilantro and onion. The incredible wafting aroma that came off the hot beef and cilantro when our waiter set them down in front of us stopped our conversation. Tender seared beef on fresh flour tortillas were savored with every bite.

For entrées, we ordered the Arroz Vallarta and the new Burrito Toluca stuffed with chicken, chorizo, rice and refried beans. Gigantic in size he boxed up half. A rich addition to an already long menu of appetizing choices. We shared a Roca margarita.

Prompt friendly service. Specials are on a board on the way in. The two drinks were more than our food @$17. each. For happy hour, check their website.

I've meant to eat here for years and finally did. Really enjoyable experience. Beautiful warm windy day to sit outside. After living in SoCal for 14 years, I haven't found a Mexican restaurant that reminded me of the cuisine there. This is it.

To me, Taco Bell as a fast food chain does a good job with supplying Mexican food to consumers. Here in CT, there was only one for the longest time in Bristol. Chili's restaurants also provide some Mexican dishes and serve great margaritas.

I mention this because that's really all there was in large. There is a restaurant I've reviewed here I would frequent regularly that serves traditional Mexican fare, but I'm rarely in East Hartford.

Puerto Vallarta changes all of this in terms of a different entry on the field. Reading the "about us" page on their website, tells the story of this committed businessman and chef.

Everything we had was authentic Mexican cuisine, from the complimentary corn chips and salsa, to the margaritas which were all made with fine accompanying liquors like Grand Marnier. We loved our waitress's favorite, Arroz Vallarta, with shrimp, chicken and sirloin steak on rice with chili con queso, and liked the Camarones Mexicano with bell peppers, onions, tomato and Spanish rice.

Feedback on a ground beef and chicken enchilada as take-out for a family member was tasty and not too spicy.

Highly recommend this place to anyone in search of a fine Mexican meal. When Covid restrictions are lifted, look for the mariachi band on weekend nights to...

BEWARE!! Ok, maybe this is one of your favorite places, maybe it's the closest Mexican Restaurant to your house, but here's the thing: check their ratings on the health department website. Since 2013, they have had 13 inspections. FVHD has 3 ratings classifications: poor, fair and good. Puerto Vallarta's first published rating in 2013 was POOR. Then, EVERY SINGLE INSPECTION after that was FAIR. It was only until June of THIS YEAR, 2016, that they FINALLY earned a "Good" rating by the health inspector. A friend and I have gotten sick from eating there before. I SWORE I wouldn't eat there again, NOT if they had a "fair" rating. I ate there on Monday, and we are ALL SICK. I won't go into detail, but I will say that in the over 20 years I have known my husband, I have NEVER EVER seen him that VIOLENTLY ILL. I thought I was going to have to take him to the e.r. Now, my 8 yr old daughter is experiencing the same thing. Please recognize that "food poisoning" doesn't always just mean an upset stomach. It can result in hospitalizations, months of sickness and even death. I am BEYOND infuriated that a restaurant would CONTINUE to score only "FAIR" from the health department, risking the health of their customers, and obviously BE OK WITH THAT. The fact that , up until their June inspection, they CONSISTENTLY received ENOUGH violations during every single inspection to DISQUALIFY THEM FROM A RATING OF "GOOD" is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I will not PAY someone to prepare food for me that has such a HIGH chance of making me violently ill. I will NEVER eat at this restaurant again. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for that kind of "report card", that is not "unlucky". No, that is a management that ACCEPTS...

My husband and I have been visiting Puerto Vallarta for the past 12 years. It is always the same fun, happy atmosphere that is unlike any other restaurant we have ever been to. The staff is amazing, the food is incredible, the drinks are delicious, and the music is so much fun. Everything about Puerto Vallarta is on another level, and there is not another restaurant that compares.

Over the years, many restaurants have decreased their value or their customer service, but not Puerto Vallarta. The portions are still large and the food is so good. The staff are so welcoming and know us by name, and they are always there with a smile on their faces. We would love to shout out to Cesar, Rigo, and Chelse, who are absolutely incredible!!

These days, my children join us on all of our visits to Puerto Vallarta and enjoy it along with us. The kids menu is fantastic for the little ones and has so many great options. It is a great restaurant for parents to choose Mexican dishes while the kids eat a grilled cheese or burgers. Whatever you order, you can be confident that it is a high quality dish with fresh ingredients. The nachos, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, and specials are the best!

This is a wonderful place to visit whether it is a date night or a family night. They can easily accommodate parties of 1-10 without a problem, and there is usually no wait. Seriously, give them a try. After 12 years, I can confidently say that we are Puerto Vallarta experts, and you will not find another restaurant that compares to this gem.
