Carvel of Avon — Restaurant in Avon

Horrible experience. The guy at the front wasn’t able to comprehend anything that I wanted. It took 5 min to get him to understand what ice cream flavor I wanted, he didn’t know what Reese’s peanut butter cups were and kept trying to put regular peanut butter on it. I asked for butterfingers instead, he then DUNKS the entire ice cream in the butterfinger bin, I asked for Nutella on top. I got a GLOB of Nutella on my ice cream, I knew it looked off and chunky and when I took a bite it was old Nutella. I went back in and got it remade with just the butterfingers on top and let them know the Nutella was old. When I took a bite of the new one THE BUTTERFINGERS WERE STALE. I gave up. The ice cream flavor itself was also nasty (vanilla peanut butter). I’ve been here once before and my experience was opposite but this last experience ruined it for me. I threw the ice cream out...

Unfortunately each time ordering from door dash, with the Reeses Sundae Dasher.. They do not make it as Carvel requires them. In person this happened as well. If you look at the picture and ingredient list of this sundae it has peanut butter and hot fudge. They only do peanut butter and not hot fudge. The only reason I can imagine they are doing this is to save money, but that is not right when I am paying for a specific product that they are supposed to sell me, and are not. It is also what makes the Reeses Sundae what is should be and without all of the ingredients it does not taste as it should. We will not be ordering from this Carvel anymore unfortunately, unless we are in person. And no there was not extra peanut butter to make up for the loss of hot fudge, so it really it is upsetting to pay for something I am...

Nostalgia brought me to visit this Carvel. My mom and I often frequented Carvel in NYC when I was young and when she moved to CT we visited the Newington shop until moving to West Hartford. We visited this one in Avon. Great family atmosphere and staff, however the prices literally doubled since COVID. Even their buy one get one Wednesdays are higher and the cups are no longer filled. The economy is impacting is all, even for a nostalgic treat which is saddening for all these family run businesses and consumers! My little one was delighted but we'll stick with the frozen store...
