First of all, even though this is a 1 star review, the staff is great. This used to be one of my favorite places, but a few things have changed. They emphatically tell you the kitchen is closing...at 8....on a Friday night. This happened earlier this week so we left not wanting to be rushed And went to Osawa instead. Come back on a Friday same thing. It's off putting to be told basically hurry up and get out. It's business 101 in the service industry to not turn customers away because of a hard closing time. Especially when it is 8. On a Friday night. Food. It cost us about $120 for bar food and 3 drinks!!! Shame on me for not noticing the price of a $34 grilled cheese, that's on me. But it's a grilled cheese at a bar! Total sticker shock. This isn't a Michelin star restaurant. It's a short rib grilled cheese. Nothing special. You can go across the street to Lucia's and get a real high quality short rib dinner for $32. Short ribs at Gibbet Hill are $33. See attached Why on earth are you charging $34 for a grilled cheese at a bar?????!!!!! Just being honest here. There was hardly anyone there either, on a Friday.! Guys, I'm writing this because I care about your success, not because I want to write a poor review.

I had the pleasure of visiting this cozy little café tonight in Ayer, and it exceeded all my expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but the true highlights were the incredible staff and the delicious menu offerings. Max, our server, was incredibly personable and made the experience that much more enjoyable. From the moment we were seated, he made us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed. His friendly demeanor and attention to detail made the evening even better. Hannah, behind the bar, is a true artist. Her drink-making skills are exceptional, and I highly recommend the pistachio espresso martini. It was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, easily one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a while. Paired with the café’s seasonal fall dessert—a sweet potato maple cheesecake—it was an indulgence I won’t soon forget. The cheesecake was creamy with just the right hint of sweetness and spice, complementing the martini in the most delightful way. If you’re looking for a spot with great service, expertly crafted drinks, and a dessert menu that will have you coming back for more, this little café is a must-visit!

My husband and I had a great experience here. It was our first time visiting the restaurant in quaint downtown Ayer. The restaurant is right by the Ayer commuter rail and has an outdoor patio during nice weather. He got the Cuban sandwich and I got the harvest salad. They were both delicious. The salad was very yummy and full (not just a bunch of lettuce). I didn't even need the dressing because it was so good. It tasted what I imagine fall to taste like. It was one of the best salads I have had before. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She brought us a big bottle of water at the start and offered to bring me lemon for mine when I said that I was going to stick with water for my drink. The prices were decent and the atmosphere was relaxing. We enjoyed our visit. There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant and on the street that is free of charge. There are high chairs available for little ones.

I rated it a three for food because the portions and the price were not compatible. On the kids menu they have Kraft Macaroni and cheese for $13 with a Hoods ice cream cup and Fried or veggie side! I thought for that price it would be a homemade version of Kraft but no. It was a bowl of actual $1.99 Kraft Mac and cheese! And instead of a Hood ice cream cup they couldn’t serve a bowl of ice cream? $$13 for Kraft and their grilled cheese was $13 is ridiculous for boxed food, it’s lazy work. I got Fish and chips for $28 and I basically got a plate of fries with two very small pieces of fish, not even palm size with. Prepackaged Ken’s Steakhouse tartar sauce and the most bland, packaged coleslaw I have ever eaten in my 63 years. The saving grace was the fish was good but I got so little it definitely wasn’t worth $28. It should have been priced at no more than $15 I’ve eaten at some great places across the country and I’ve eaten here before and although the food is tasty, the service this time was great, the kitchen is lazy using prepackaged food and passing it off as fine dining Do better. I don’t like lazy kitchens who cut corners yet charge...

I don't like writing negative reviews and I try to be supportive of locall business but our experience was just plain bad. Group of 3 ordered 2 glasses of wine and a mixed drink. Glasses of wine come out but the mixed drink shows up 5 min after the appetizer did.

Two orders of the steak tips and one of the brazed ribs. The steak tips showed up nearly ten min before the ribs and we were stuck waiting for the last person to get his food.

When we finally gave up and tried eating the steak so it would be warm we found that it was barely warm. I had expected marinated Sirloin tips but what we got was what appeared to be stew beef which had a bourbon glaze on it. They seemed to hardly be marinated, had no flavor and were chewy.

The ribs were very tender but had no flavor.

I then tried ordering a burger and it came out differently than I ordered it twice.

The table beside us got up to get there own to-go boxes and as the waitress had not checked in on them had to flag her down for the bill

Full disclosure the staff tried to make everything right and did take items off of our bill which we appreciated. It just was not a...
