I don’t usually write reviews, but I was shocked that no one had mentioned anything like the experience we had here.

I was excited to try a new place this morning with my partner, but we were left incredibly disappointed. The first issue was the wait. We got there at 11:15am and stood in line for 45 minutes. The majority of the people in line with us just gave up and left, but we were hungry, so we stuck it out. In hindsight, we wished we had left, too. There were only 2 people working, so they were obviously having significant staffing issues. During our time waiting, a woman returned her food because it was old and inedible, so they gave her a gift card. The guy in front of us waited 45 minutes just for a medium, black, hot coffee.

The restaurant itself was dirty. Everything stuck to our table, including my purse, and a napkin picked up a huge amount of dirt even after one of the two people there graciously wiped it down for us. Once we finally got our food at 12:10pm, almost an entire hour after we got there, it was only okay. We got the breakfast bowl and a breakfast burrito, which were made from ingredients sitting in a hot plate. They were low or out of some ingredients, like potatoes, so they just gave us a few in the bowl and didn’t put any in the burrito, even though it was supposed to have them.

The drinks were really bad. We got an “iced chai latte” which was definitely just a cup of milk with a few pumps of cinnamon syrup. The iced coffee was so watered down, it was see-through and didn’t taste like coffee at all.

The cherry on top was the pricing. We paid $55 for 2 fast-food quality breakfasts, 2 undrinkable drinks, and 2 pastries to-go that we realized were stale when we got home. We expect to pay that for sit-down service, but definitely not for a walk-up counter in a dirty restaurant where we waited for so long. I feel bad for the staff here because they were getting flack for situations completely out of their control. At the same time, there wasn’t a single positive from our experience. Please don’t waste your money or time here — any place that puts their staff in such an unclean and disorderly environment does not have management that you should...

It’s a bummer that service was bad since the food was nice. Called ahead to order a breakfast sandwich and the person on the phone was very nice and said the food was going to be ready in about 5 minutes. I arrived and the person who I spoke with on the phone said that there was a little delay in the order which was fine (gentlemen was very nice throughout my whole experience there).

I then saw what appeared to be the manager of the place walking around. She was coughing near food behind the counter and was walking around the cafe making herself her breakfast (no gloves).

I ordered my food at 7:30am over the phone, and ended up picking my order up around 8am. The manager lady spoke to me when I was paying and told me that the place didn’t start serving breakfast until more like 8:30am, despite the breakfast menu on the website saying breakfast starts at 7am. She sounded a little snippy when she told me that as well. She also encouraged me to call ahead next time when I make an order, which I did. Not only did I pay the establishment over $20, I was also extremely patient during the extra wait. And in return I was treated poorly. Poor communication and rudeness all around....

I really don't like to leave poor reviews but this visit was disappointing.

They were taking too many orders from door dash for what they could handle and the wait times for those who walked in were over 20 minutes for just a coffee. We waited longer for the food but it took way too long.

We had to leave before the food was ready, so we didn't get to try it. We ordered a muffin and a breakfast wrap.

We paid for the food and were seeing half orders come out with large time spreads between orders. We left without asking for a refund.

There was a group of 3 people who had been there before we arrived and when we left I asked if they had ordered food, which they had but were still waiting.

Maybe it was an off day, but they could have either stopped online ordering or told walk ins that there was an hour wait for coffee and muffins and we would have respected that and made our decision.

The atmosphere was mixed and busy in parts but had charm and there is potential for a great experience.

I'm willing to try again but not...

So excited that Markoh’s Wake and Bake on Main is here! Ayer downtown was missing a good coffee and breakfast/brunch spot. Been here a few times since they opened and have had nothing but positive vibes from them! It’s cute, cozy, has delicious coffee (Union coffee roasters!) and equally delicious food (those breakfast burritos hit the spot!) Highly recommend stopping in!

I went here the other day and it may be my new favorite place! The atmosphere was so cozy, along with the seats, and there were lots of books for reading. Adam was delightful and very eager to give recommendations as it was my first time. I ordered a corn chowder for like $3 and it was huge and the coffee was delicious. Has an overall very lovely experience!
