Poke Aces & Milk Tea — Restaurant in Ayer

The food here was fresh and the I enjoyed the taste. The staff were polite and helpful. I ordered a poke bowl, so I can only speak to that.

I know this is a fairly new establishment, so I’m not going to hold any flaws I’m seeing now against them, but I do have suggestions.

I like poke places that have an assembly line like a Subway or Moe’s, allowing you to see the ingredients and choose what you want and when you get to the end of the line you pay. I wasn’t able to see the ingredients, so I did end up with things I wouldn’t have selected if I could see them. For example, “Sweet onion” was just raw red onion, where I expected it to be pickled.

I was displeased to see that you can choose 4 toppings (on top of protein), and additional toppings are extra money. I think that’s reasonable for protein, but not for carrots and cucumbers.. I also didn’t like that over half the bowl was rice - bad rice to topping ratio.

It would be great to have different protein size options. I would like the option to have 1, 2 or 3 servings of protein.

These are all minor improvements, but they do add up, hence the 4 stars. I look forward to seeing if any suggestions are implemented, as I would love to frequent THIS poke spot instead of my usual spot...

I really want to love this place because my coworkers and I love boba and poke. This review is solely to provide feedback for improvement because I want to come back. We all had similar critiques. A few being that the consistency of the rice was strange almost as if it was not washed or cooked thoroughly. The odd inconsistency of the cucumber slices. The severe lack of sauce as you at least want to taste it. The price is higher than average. The taste of the boba was off and left a dry feeling in our mouths. The lack of options for the price. These small details add up and greatly impact the product. I am no critic but comparative to other poke places, it is lacking. This is the 4th time we've come. The first was AWESOME. We always order and PAY for the extra proteins on purpose. However, since the 2nd time was as tho they cut down on the serving size we've come another two times only to be even MORE upset. If we're PAYING all the extra costs for EXTRA proteins then you should do what you did the first time we came and split the meal into 2 bowls. Instead you're cutting WAY DOWN on the amount of protein just to fit it into out "build your own bowl". That's 3 times now I feel like we're getting ripped off. Won't be back.
