My family and I moved to the bad axe area about a year ago and we've tried just about every restaurant in the area. Needless to say this is the first review I've felt compelled to write (good or bad). I heard from a few people that this place was not worth the money, however, this is a definite understatement. 1 out of the 5 entrees we had was descent, everything else was sub par at best. I ordered the steak sandwich that was supposed to be prepared with sliced sirloin steak, however, it was definitely roast beef (good, but definitely not a sliced sirloin steak as the menu described and most likely gordon food purchased). My wife ordered a filet medium rare and it came out after the rest of the food hit the table. It did not have any grill/searing marks on it as my mother in laws NY strip did, and tasted like the cook likely microwaved it (tough, not juicy, as a medium rare filet should be). My sons burger was terrible, appeared to be a pre-pattied burger not fresh, and my other son's chicken fingers were definitely a frozen brand, edible but nothing special. The steak fries the boys both received were inedible, they were definitely a store bought fry and I believe they were microwaved or not fried long enough because they were still cold in the middle. Our server was very nice, but not knowledgeable at all about the drink menu, she was 17 and could not make any drink recommendations. The atmosphere of this place is nice, but clearly there is no active management overseeing the operation. Service and food quality control are non-existent. I understand that all restaurants have off nights, but this place had major breakdowns on all aspects of their business. Definitely not a 4.2 restaurant as it states on...
Read moreWife had the Chicken Breast. I had the Mahi Mahi. I double checked the servers knowledge by asking if the Mahi Mahi was Bluefin Tuna or Redfin. She surprised me with "Its Dolphinfish, white!" Congrats on a very knowledgable staff who has learned the menu front and back. Both of us started with cocktails. If they were any indication of what was to come, we knew we were in for a treat. A perfect blend of alcohol. Not too strong, not too weak. Very refreshing. It has been far too long since we were able to get out on a date and we wanted (and deserved) a nice night out where we were served only the best Bad Axe had to offer. The Steakhouse met every expectation. The cooks did an amazing job tonight. Our food was phenomenal with great presentations from the appetizers to the main courses, which arrived timely considering how packed the place was and looked far better than other pictures posted by previous reviewers. The servers were visibly hustling the entire time we were there and they deserve great pay and great tips. All of them, not only our server.
A special shoutout to Andre Hershburger, the young man bussing and keeping the place clean. He deserves so much recognition for the hard work he puts in here.
This was our first time experiencing The Steakhouse, and it's newer owners have really turned the place around from the terrible reputation the previous owner left them with. Five stars all the way and thank you all so much for making our date night very special for us. We will be...
Read moreWe tried the Bad Axe Steakhouse tonight. It seemed promising, but we left without eating more than 10% of our steaks.
My wife had a delicious frozen Creamsicle drink that supposedly had alcohol in it but you couldn't taste it. We are sure it was there but it was so delicious you couldn't taste it. That is a very dangerous drink!
I had a Two Hearted beer, always yummy. But she never asked if I wanted another.
My wife ordered a 12oz. ribeye and I opted for the mighty porterhouse!
We both had baked potatoes, broccoli, and I paid extra for a house salad with ranch dressing. My salad came out immediately and was delicious.
She ordered her ribeye medium well and it came out bloody rare. My porterhouse was ordered medium which it was, but that cow was tougher than shoe leather, even on the filet side.
Both of our baked potatoes were hard, like they were cooked days ago and tossed in the microwave before being served.
At first, our server took our unfinished meals and brought us the check without offering any compensation or adjustment to the bill.
A quick discussion with the manager and she reduced it to 50%. Still overpaid but the drinks were good!
The decor was patriotic, and they had a phone booth with a Superman...
