Jun BBQ — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Was a small stall in the farmer’s market before they opened their store front. Happy to see them open up a shop. Small location, about 4-5 tables. So get here early if you want lunch or dinner! Wait times are also not too bad.

Food is really good! only place I know in Bakersfield where you can get quality XLB and the beef noodle soup.

That being said, since the soup dumplings are the star of the show, I wish they’d steam them appropriately. The last couple times I’ve been here, the soup was completely gone from the dumplings, because of over steaming, I presume, or the fact that they are frozen and then steamed to cook.

Coming from LA, din tai fung and ixlb definitely sets the standards. So I’d expect soup to be inside the dumpling when I take a bite, for that price. I wish they also had shredded ginger available for the dumplings. Huge miss they don’t offer this. Hopefully they can fix it. Other than that everything else was pretty spot on! Jun-BBQ Dimsum is such a great find in Bakersfield! Everything we ordered was spot-on delicious. The spicy shrimp meal with steamed rice had the perfect amount of kick. The siu mai was a standout — made with chunks of real pork meat (no extenders, just pure flavor!). The pork buns were soft, fluffy, and filled generously, while the sesame balls were crispy on the outside with sweet red bean inside — absolutely perfect!

Service was warm and friendly, and the food came out hot and fresh. The only opportunity for improvement would be increasing seating capacity, or maybe offering some al fresco dining as an option — it would make the experience even better.

Definitely a must-try spot when you’re craving good dim sum in...

My family and I stopped by this place because we saw a TikTok about it a few days prior. Safe to say, we were not disappointed at all. The food was fresh, flavorful, and piping hot. Nothing tasted old or reheated. We ordered the lamb skewers, spicy beef noodle soup, xiao long bao, potstickers, chicken feet, and spicy popcorn shrimp. Everything was delicious. Nothing was left on our plates, that's how good it was😅. We do hope that they get to extend or get a bigger location, so that more folks can be seated and served. We will be coming back for sure:).
