Any seat in this house is AMAZING and if you have the chance to witness an event in this venue: jump at it! Admittedly, having a front row center seat to your favorite concert, theatrical production, etc. is exciting, but if you find yourself in what you thought would be the "nosebleed" section, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Yes, even in the Bob Uecker section, (take it from a seasoned Uecker-section ticket holder) your view will be unobstructed, the sound quality is symphonic and you'll have an overall better gauge of the entire event--audience reaction and the overall experience. So leave the binoculars at home (unless you're planning to count the individual whiskers on someone's face) and enjoy a spectacular time within this historical piece of Bakersfield. If you're seated within the last few rows of the floor, the venue is small enough that whatever is going on at stage level still translates well to the very back row of the room. And the balcony section is split into two levels that graduates to steeper seating in the back. Again, thoughtful design in a small enough venue so that whatever is happening on stage translates to the very back of seat of the balcony. Sit back and enjoy your event no matter what seat you may end up with at Historic Bakersfield...
Read moreFirst off the staff was very sweet this message if for upper management: How very unprepared you all were for Shane Gillis, you must be embarrassed. Seriously, that was pathetic. First you were completely unprepared for the amount of people that came. It took almost 2 hours to get everyone in. What a cruel thing to do to your employees, under staffing like that. Then the show finally gets to start with half the people still outside but the only joke that was happening was the hecklers ruining the entire thing, not to mention the drunk women audibly screaming the entire time because she was clearly over-served. Now where was security you may ask? Well the audience and the comedians were wondering the same thing. It was an eye opening experience coming from the concert world, my self. So many what-not-to-dos. I’m not sure if it was the clientele or the venue either way I will not be returning to this little nightmare of a historical spot. That was a historical disaster and it’s what you do. You do understand it’s literally your only purpose to ‘put on shows’. You owe everyone an apology who was at that show last night INCLUDING the talent. Get your act together before attempting something like that again....
Read moreMy review is of the beautiful ornate theatre and the welcoming staff that showed us this historic venue. Two months ago we happened to be on a roadtrip and we stopped in Bakersfield. We saw the Fox theater & asked if we could go in and see the building(daytime no shows ). The lady in the office said she would check and then we were introduced to Gilbert. Gilbert showed us the theater & told us the history of the building . He brought us up on Stage and it was so much fun to pretend for a moment that we were playing to a sold out venue. Gilbert & the staff & the Fox were an unexpected high light to our road trip. Sometimes you need to just stop and enjoy the journey.. I recommend stopping in Bakersfield & catching a show at the Fox. We...
