Not only is the coffee delicious here, the staff is super sweet. There are a few little coffee places popping up around Bakersfield that we really enjoy, Blue Oak definitely being one of the best! One fun thing about this coffee house is there seems to be a lot of community involvement. I went in today and they had paints and things out (for kids I think) and on our first visit they had a community piano out front.
In addition to their coffees and teas, they always have a delectable array of freshly baked goods which they bake on site. Today they had HP inspired cookies, funfetti cookies, chocolate chip cookies, linzer tart (which is super yummy, I got that last time!), a variety of scones (both savoury and sweet), and bagels. I want to mention again-the coffee is phenomenal.
I have only been twice so far, the first time was about a month ago, with my boyfriend. Today only I came in and placed both of our orders but the owner remembered us and his order! (nothing crazy that would stand out, either. Just an iced mocha with a splash of half and half.) The fact that the proprietor remembered us is an exceptional detail; that level of service...

Based on the owner's response: I originally planned to remove my review, but the reply was so defensive and accusatory, essentially calling me a liar, that I felt compelled to clarify a few things. First, I did not actually see a barista. You donāt know who I am, and you certainly canāt claim to know what I observed. I included the times in my review to highlight what might be an ongoing issue, not because I had any ill will or negative agenda.
This was my first visit, and I was genuinely interested in trying your place. However, the dismissive and combative response makes it highly unlikely that Iāll return. Had the owner responded with more professionalism and class, I would have gladly given the benefit of the doubt. Instead, the poor handling of feedback has cost you a potential customer.
That said, Iām rooting for you, Blue Oakāhopefully, youāll learn from this response and do better...

On the corner of 20th and G Street in downtown Bakersfield sits a quaint little cafe, Blue Oak Coffee Roasting. Although it's a small place (indoor seating is limited) the cafe serves bold and delicious espresso drinks. The decor was pretty fabulous. The wood accent wall caught my attention. Two gentlemen I had never met were sitting at the arm chairs so I decided to embarrass my teenager and ask the gentlemen if I could take their picture in front of the wall; which they kindly obliged to. Somehow I forgot to take a picture of my cortado. I don't think that has happened in the last three years of my life. After joyfully sipping on my cortado I took my son to the opposite corner of the block to see the Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater.
Enjoying life one cortado at a time! Even if no picture was taken...
