Kelly s Tandoori Grill & Catering and Western Kitchen Catering & bbq — Restaurant in Bakersfield

An overall wonderful experience when you come to dine in here! You meet Kelly and Bucky- a married couple running this restaurant where Bucky is supporting his wife’s dream to open up her own restaurant. When someone is living their dreams, you know they are giving it their all. So with that said, you get high quality food and service. My mother and I came here for the first time and spoke to both Kelly and Bucky. They are such warm and kind people! We were talking about how I was traveling the next day and had to drive through the Tehachapi pass that had been closed, and he was so thoughtful in giving me advice on how I can watch the weather and to drive safe. It was just so kind.

When it comes to the food, they have a fusion of traditional and also creative cuisines such as Caesar Chicken Salad with tandoori grilled and Indian spiced chicken! I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and it tasted like slow cooked American bbq with Indian spices. It was delicious! And the pricing is better than any other of the Indian restaurants I price checked. Same price as others, but you also get rice- salad, naan, and yogurt with your entree! I really appreciated this! Also, I’m always wishing there were more vegetables when I eat Indian food and was very happy with the included salad.

I ordered a simple paneer Tikka and the cook told me that it was going to be a difficult entree to make and that she'll have to charge me extra, I accepted the extra charge. The results were bad. Really oily and nowhere near okay. She was also rude and gave me the food with a "here take it." I have no idea how this place has perfect ratings. In my opinion, this place does not pass a 1 star rating.

Edit: I may have mistaken one word of the food name I ordered, but everything else is correct. My memorization of this place is 100% accurate. This is the restaurant where I had a face-to-face interaction with the woman who was rude to me. There was another lady in the back making Nan. I didn't see you, Bucky. If you were supposibly there, why didn't you say anything?? You really remember the day I came in? Stop trying to dismiss my review and making me appear as the "confused customer". Do not blame the customer for your employees' attitude towards them. And because of your treatment, Im happy I found other places in town where I don't get treated this way. I only stated MY honest review. Good...

The food is so delicious here! Kelly is also very sweet and cares about her customers. She keeps the prices reasonable and the portions are perfect.

Back when the restaurant was located across the street from Memorial Hospital I was visiting am ill family member and decided to walk across the street for some of her excellent cooking. I had been a few times before but hadn't really paid attention to the posted hours so I didn't know she closed so early (I think they closed at 5pm back then). I arrived about a half hour after they closed, but the door was unlocked and I hadn't noticed the closed sign. She was cleaning up the kitchen and informed me that they were closed but said, "I can still make you something real quick. I don't have anywhere important to be after this."

That really made me feel like she cares about feeding her customers and not just about the money.

My only complaint is that they close so early. If it weren't for that I would eat there more often.
