We had family and friends fly into town from all over the country expecting to celebrate my husbands retirement from the military, a major milestone and instead were met with unacceptable and disappointing experience that felt disrespectful to my husband's 20 years of service.
We were told to we could arrive at 10:30 AM and were assured that someone would be present to assist with setup. When that person eventually arrived she was unable to provide any meaningful help, had a poor attitude, and did not even know how to operate basic amenities such as the fans or air conditioning.
Our event was scheduled to take place on the outdoor patio. At no point during the booking process were we informed that the patio lacked functioning outlets, fans, or air conditioning--details that are critical when planning a daytime event in warm weather. After expressing our concerns, we were relocated inside, but only after speaking to a different manager than the one we had originally worked with. The new location, on the upper level, lacked sufficient airflow and was hot and extremely uncomfortable.
Additionally, our booking included a server and a bartender--neither of whom were present when our guests began arriving. A guest in attendance took matters into their own hands and stepped behind the bar to serve water, as there was no wait staff to assist. This was both unprofessional and frustrating seeing that they were our guest and not supposed to be there working!
When our guest speaker began, we asked that the music be turned down so attendees could hear the presentation, we were told "No," despite our group of nearly 50 being the mass majority of who was occupying the restaurant at the time. This made it difficult for many of our guests to hear the speeches, especially those seated toward the back.
When a server finally appeared near the end of the event to clear tables, it was clear our large party was an afterthought and the lack of service had already impacted the entire experience for everyone as they were all commenting on the dirty plates across the tables, lack of refreshments with overly warm accommodations. When we were told that coffee, water, and sodas were included with the service.
I actually emailed the restaurant and have not had a response from either owner or manager, hoping to resolve this privately. I would have preferred to speak to someone rather than leave a public review. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant for events or basic customer service. I live in Canton, and this is by far the worst service I have experienced in the neighborhood.
The one positive from this experience was the view and location on the...
Read moreFor Mother’s Day I had the worst experience here! I brought my family to eat out for dinner at around 6:30PM we were told to wait for 30 minutes and who seemed to be the manager hosting got our contact info and told us he would contact us. Those 30 minutes passed, we saw that new people were coming and taking a seat while we still waited so it now passed a whole hour and i told my man to go see whats going on. He came back and told us that the guy told him he called him which was a lie because he was checking his phone the entire time. So he randomly picked a spot for us and left, so we asked another guy if there was a way to change locations and he acted all annoyed. He ends up moving us, and our waitress was great her name was Taylor. So we go and order our food because we are just too hungry to wait for appetizers. We end up waiting for the food more than 1 hour! Thats just the most ridiculous thing ever, never ever have i had such an awful experience. After we ended just leaving and took the food to go. Once we got home I realized they didn't put the crab dip and i called to see what is it that they do when they forget something in someones food? I spoke to the manager and i also mentioned how our experience went and he try comparing other peoples experience and how they apparently never had any complaints which was a lie because i checked their reviews and most of the people have had the same experience! I let him know respectfully that i don't care about anyones experience that i went to their facility and had a terrible experience with my entire family spending a lot of money for the bare minimum. He then proceeded to just brush me off and told me he will give me a store credit and talk to his boss. Lets not even talk about how the food was very small portions, cold, salty, soggy. Like they didn't care as long as they got their money, thats all it mattered! Anyways please don't go to this establishment they don't care and your food will be coming out...
Read moreI went to Bayside Cantina on a Saturday. It wasn't all that crowded but there was a wedding reception taking place upstairs. The vibe and atmosphere was good Although, I was hoping to get a good view of the water with my friend, but the hostess sat us at a cramped table near a wooden pole without asking us if we wanted to be seated inside/outside or at a bigger/smaller table. We had an okay waiter. She wasn't very attentive but she did keep us updated about the food status occasionally. However, the food took quite a while to get to us and the table next to us, which seems to be a common occurrence based on other reviews. I ordered a Chimichanga, which seems hard to find a good one in Baltimore. I was shocked by the portion size (in a bad way). The meal was mostly rice and beans which was a little disappointing. But it was actually pretty good! However, what upsets me is that the total price for our meal (taxes + tip) was $62. When I checked my bank statements days after it showed $72. I immediately contacted the restaurant and spoke with Maria who said she would call me back to get the issue resolved THAT DAY. It has been 5 days since then and I haven't gotten any communication from them or Maria. I don't know if this was an accident or was purposely done but this has never happened to me between fast food joints, hole in the walls, or fancy establishments. I think even if the issue couldn't be resolved I would have appreciated communication. It is definitely about the principle for me. So, to say that it left a bad scammed taste in my mouth is an understatement. I will work with my bank to try to resolve the issue since I haven't gotten any response from Bayside Cantina for days. Before, I would have probably returned to the restaurant but now I don't see myself ever returning. If you do go, KEEP your receipt and CHECK your card charges. Or, better yet...
