second time here. First time was for brunch and we enjoyed it so much I bought a Groupon for dinner. We tried to make it out before it expired but things didn’t work out. By law and by Groupon policy, the $24 I paid now works like cash. It’s just cash whenever I want to use it. It’s like a $20 and 4 $1 bills. Which means I can use it at happy hour or at brunch or whenever I want with whatever special they have. Since I’m not trying to use the Groupon deal, just the money I paid for it.
Well, we went tonight for dinner. First I was told I couldn’t use it without ordering what the Groupon Specified. Then I was told I had to order the specialty cocktails to use the Groupon. The expired Groupon. Another waitress even yelled back to our waiter and said it was just the face value now. He apparently texted his manager who wrote back to him to say that yes, the face value was just like cash but we’d have to pay full price on our beers. Fine, by this time I just wanted our meal over.
Which was nothing to write home about. The salsa trio was not as good as I remembered. The duck tacos I ordered had a weird taste to them. I didn’t finish even 1 out of the 3. Our son’s cheese quesadilla was good.
But all in all, we won’t be going back or recommending to...
Read moreWe decided to try El Bufalo after seeing photos of the family style taco platter. It is definitely a bar, not a restaurant. The noise level on a Sunday at 2:00 was deafening. When we asked if we could seat ourselves the bartender mentioned that upstairs was quieter (out of the blue, which I found amusing). We found a table upstairs, but the noise level was still high. We had to raise our voices to speak to each other. We ordered guacamole and the family style tacos. The guac was heavenly, seasoned just right. The tacos were very tasty. They use the chef's choice of meats, and we received steak, carnitas, duck, and short rib. Each had different sauce and relish on them that complimented the meat. Make note, their carnitas have a sweet marinade mildly reminiscent of a bbq sauce. Not what we expected, and some of the family didn't care for it. My only complaint was that they use flour tortillas, when corn would be more authentic and flavorful. Trying to decide if we'll go back to try some individual menu items...maybe a non...
Read moreLove the food at El Buffalo! Especially the 6 taco tasting tour. My husband and I get takeout from here every couple of months. If we have company, we usually dine in so we can get a few drinks/apps first. If it’s just my husband and I, we prefer takeout because we sometimes feel rushed out, but not a big deal. Overall, we really love the vibes and the food is worth every trip! Just a warning though - do not do online ordering for El Buffalo!!! I recently placed an order online and the order was not confirmed. I called the restaurant before pickup to be told that they no longer accept online orders, but Toast, the online portal, already charged my card. I had to be charged twice, once for the online order that they weren’t accepting and again for the take out order I placed over the phone. Since I only received the order once, I’m now dealing with disputing a transaction on my credit card.. I will definitely be back, but will not make that...
