I had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Sunny Choudhary. I came in for a routine visit and was told I had cavities in seven teeth!! He told me they “definitely” needed fillings right away. No one explained the size or severity of the cavities, and I wasn’t offered any conservative treatment options. I later consulted two other dentists who reviewed the X-rays and confirmed that the cavities were very small and could have been monitored without any invasive approaches, especially given my good oral hygiene. Both said the treatment I received was too aggressive and unnecessary. What concerns me most is that in order to place the fillings, he drilled away healthy structures of my teeth, which other dentists have confirmed was unnecessary. This irreversible damage could have been avoided. What’s more frustrating is the lack of communication: I tried to speak to the doctor to better understand the decisions made, but I was told he was "too busy" and not available to talk. When I raised my concerns with the office manager, they seemed dismissive and uninterested. I also noticed that the charges were excessive—they billed both my insurance and me directly. Given that I have good insurance, I can’t help but feel the recommendations were financially motivated. While the office appears modern and the staff is polite on the surface, my overall experience left me feeling mistreated and taken advantage of. I strongly advise against visiting this dentist or clinic.
"Update after business response": Thank you for your reply. First and foremost, I want to clarify that expressing dissatisfaction or seeking accountability is not a threat — it is my right as a patient.
As a medical doctor, I understand the importance of evidence-based, ethical care. I also have close friends and family members who are dentists, and I consulted several of them after my visit. They all reviewed the X-rays and clinical details, and not a single one supported the approach taken at your office. If even one trusted professional had agreed with your doctor’s aggressive treatment plan, I would have let this go — but all opinion was that the treatment was unnecessary and unprofessional.
My only mistake was trusting your office too quickly. When the doctor highly recommended working on four teeth during the same visit, I agreed — assuming it was in my best interest. I now regret not taking the time to consult the experienced dentists I know before proceeding.
Regarding billing, I fully understand how insurance works. My concern is not about the process, but the fact that I was charged for treatment that should never have been performed in the first place. Honestly, I no longer care about arguing back and forth. I’m committed to reporting this through the proper channels because patients deserve respectful, conservative dental care — not...
Read moreI really wanted to give Canton Smile Studio 5 stars, but unfortunately, my experience took a disappointing turn. As someone new to Baltimore, I’ve been working on establishing my healthcare providers and finding the best doctors and dentists in the area. I stumbled upon Canton Smile Studio since it’s just five minutes from my house, and I’ve passed by it on my way to my favorite bakery.
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. The office was clean, and they were right on time for my dental cleaning. The added touch of screens in the ceiling, where you can watch something during your appointment, was a unique and pleasant feature.
The woman who did my X-rays (I regret not remembering her name) was amazing—so professional and kind. Before I even met the dentist, I was so impressed with the experience that I texted my boyfriend to tell him to book an appointment right away because this place was a 10/10.
Dr. Holleh exceeded my expectations. She was by far the best dentist I’ve ever met. She was professional, thorough, and took the time to explain everything, which I greatly appreciated.
However, things changed when it came to discussing my treatment plan. Initially, I thought the pricing wasn’t too bad, but as I sat in the chair, I realized I still needed to budget for Christmas shopping and other priorities. I decided to hold off on scheduling the recommended procedures until the new year.
When I shared this with the front desk, Paige’s response was disappointing. She came across as condescending and made me feel uncomfortable about my decision. While I understand that everyone is just doing their job, patients shouldn’t feel judged or pressured when they need to delay care due to financial reasons.
This interaction has left me questioning whether I want to return, which is unfortunate because the rest of my experience was outstanding. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously, as customer service is just as important as the quality of...
Read moreI had been wanting to look for a new dentist for a bit, and after finding Canton Smile Studio I decided to make a long overdue appointment. The space itself is beautiful. They updated an old space, keeping the character while adding modern designs/pieces. I felt very welcome from the moment I stepped in - I was offered a seat and a drink (great selection!), and was taken back to the chair pretty quick.
During my cleaning (and two easy cavity fillings!) I met with a dental hygienist (I don't remember her name), and Dr. Holleh. I was told what was happening every step of the way. Dr. Holleh asked if I had any concerns I wanted to have addressed which I really appreciated. I was really surprised that Dr. Holleh was very involved with the visit - in the past I have only seen a dentist at the very end of a visit and sometimes not at all, and it always felt very rushed.
I ended up setting up two follow up appointments to address cosmetic concerns of mine (whitening and white spots from braces). So far I've completed the whitening appointment which was quick and painless. I'm super excited for the appointment to get rid of the white spots - I have had them for YEARS and was told by my previous dentist there was nothing I could do about them. I'm really glad I found Dr. Holleh...
