My grandmother and I stopped by Catalan Coffee in Hampden and once again we were both delighted, especially by their mushroom bánh mì sandwich. Honestly, I think it is the best vegan bánh mì in Baltimore.

My grandmother found it a little spicy but I loved the bold layered flavors. The crisp cucumbers, fresh mint, crunchy carrots, savory mushrooms, and perfectly crusty bread come together beautifully with their flavorful house made sauce. The jalapeños add a lively kick on top of the sauce’s existing spice but it is balanced enough to keep you going back for another bite. I will say the portion felt smaller than the first time I had it. The first was generously stacked while this time was noticeably lighter but still delicious.

The café itself is cozy and welcoming with a staff that is warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about their drinks. My grandmother enjoyed her black tea with honey while I went for the blueberry lemonade. It was vibrant, tangy, and full of flavor. I usually order it without ice but this time a little ice helped soften its intensity without taking away from its brightness.

Catalan Coffee is truly a hidden gem in Hampden and I cannot wait to return to explore more of the...

Been coming since day 1. Even had breakfast sandwiches from them when they were at R house I believe. Anyway. I don’t even eat meat well we ate good October 20 Sunday funday. Ordered the Classic catalog , a breakfast vegan sandwich added sausage. Two coffee drinks. We finished that and decided to get the breakfast burrito since it’s only offered on the weekends. I drive a pretty good distance to come here. Very picky about what I consume. This place is worth it. Sorry they aren’t open today. Oh we tried the burrito, saved it for later because we had to get a bike ride in. And got two more drinks to go!
