Sadiq is a superb host. He is knowledgeable about Afghani cuisine! He is a warm and welcoming presence! The entire staff is attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food is exceptional. They are known here for their lamb and my friend was not disappointed. He said the flavor was consistent through every bit. A deep marinade of fantastic flavor. It was tender and slid off the bone. I ordered the vegetarian platter and the mushrooms were delicious. A perfect bite and cooked in perfect time. I am particular about the texture of mushrooms and they have the science down!!! The sauces that drizzled the cauliflower had a balance of spices that was so satisfying. The spinach complimented the dish added a sweet touch and steeped into to rice! Try the green sauce, and immaculate taste I could put on everything!!! I have never had this before so I don’t have the name. We had a table in full view of the kitchen. The chef and kitchen team were a synchronized group that looked so focused and organized. As we waited for our food you could hear a man at the front counter explain the menu and make recommendations with so much enthusiasm! There is obviously passion here! Good food, and a great staff! If you are in Hampden I highly recommend visiting, if the aromas don’t capture you first! What a wonderful experience!

So happy for this addition to the Ave. We were promptly greeted by the owner, who had great ordering recommendations for my partner. We had called with no answer, but he called us back within minutes to confirm they had plenty of vegan options. We ordered the Bread to start which was delicious. He got the Cauliflower and Chickpeas, I got the Mantu to start and the Aushak as my main. I’ve had both at another restaurant and was beyond satisfied with both here. Food came out really quickly. When the drop was done, the owner served a yummy green sauce on the side - and was sure to mention that it did contain walnuts in case we had any allergies. (Neither of us are allergic, but thanks for being preemptive on that!) Everything was so rich, I actually ended up taking half home and look forward to having a little snacky later. No bar, but their selection of NA drinks is decent. I decided to order an Ayran, which is a yogurt drink like kefir, and after drinking 1/3 of the bottle…. I don’t know if I *like* it, but it was cool to try! Vibe is relaxed (I wore sweats). Pricing is reasonable. Also, the bathroom was super clean, nicely decorated, briefly made me feel like I was at the botox spa. We’ll absolutely be back in the near future!

Kandahar Afghan Kitchen is by far the best place for Afghan food in the area. This is the only spot where you can find truly authentic Kandahari dishes. The moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with Afghan carpets and beautiful paintings adorning the walls. Everything is clean and thoughtfully decorated, adding to the overall experience. I started with the Aushak soup with ground beef, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. For the main course, I tried the Chopan, marinated, grilled lamb chops served with pallow and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. The lamb was tender and full of flavor, and the sides were a great match. To top it off, I had the Jhala Ice Cream for dessert. This cardamom-infused vanilla bean ice cream topped with rice noodles and almonds, served with rose water syrup, was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Everything I tasted was absolutely delicious. I’ve tried many Afghan restaurants, and Kandahar Afghan Kitchen definitely stands out as the best. I’ll be coming back for sure and highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Afghan cuisine.

Looking to impress a large party with amazing food!? Look no further than Kandahar - a fantastic perfect establishment for a casual date night and even catering! I must highlight how this amazing team delivered on an order for 30 people!

Chef and owner are friendliest of people who offered insightful tips on how to best serve their food with accommodations for everyone (veg and vegan friendly)! After noting my favorite dishes (Shaftallou Challow and Kabuli Pallow, and several side dishes) they walked me through their recommendations on what to order two days in advance.

I showed up and the food was ready and still hot and fresh too! Their team helped load this steamy aromatic food into my car and the rest is history. They provided ample food that my family and friends raved about, and the process was seamless.

Kabuli Pallow - aromatic rice mixed with sweet surprises from raisins, topped off with tender chunks of delicious well seasoned lamb. Fantastic for large parties, easy to serve.

Shaftallou Challow - chicken slow cooked with honey and peaches. Sweet and savory perfectly married to melt in your mouth. Served with a pan of rice to balance the flavor. Drooling at the thought of it

Cauliflower and Chickpeas - a scrumptious fresh dish for vegans! Tossed in a flavorful tomato sauce that can be served over rice

Sabzi - spinach cooked to dissolve into glorious flavor in your mouth

Must order their light fluffy bread to go with it all!

To the Kandahar team - thank you for your recommendations and help in serving my friends and family your...

Although I am neither from Afghanistan nor very familiar with its couisine, stepping into Kandahar Afghan kitchen felt a lot like coming home; a relaxed, friendly environment. We arrived as a group of 8 people and were promptly greeted by both manager and waiter, both very friendly. Seeing that we were a young group of people out to dine, the manager made sure to ask - even before we ordered - whether we wished to have individual checks. Tables were moved such that we could sit together, and more chairs were brought forth. Ordering was possible both at the table, using a menu card, or directly at the counter. Not being very familiar with Afghan food, the manager was great at explaining items on the menu and recommending dishes. I myself had a Beef Kabob wrap, which was delightful and deserving of five stars. The food arrived at a steady pace, and the server checked in on us a couple of times, otherwise giving us peace to eat.

I've decided to give the food 4/5 stars even though my own dish was deserving of 5 stars, as I for one am unable to vouch for the rest of the menu card, and as secondly I would have loved the free water to be filtered as the taste of Baltimore tap water is not the best. The service and mood were however impeccable - totally...
