Tdlr: Good donuts. Very sweet and a little too pricey for my taste. But they are a fantastic vegan product. If you are looking for a nice treat this is the place. I recommend the brown butter chocolate chip cookie. Bad parking situation. I got 6 donuts, 2 were part of a campaign to get influencers to post and generate some noise around their donuts. I'm glad that I decided to buy donuts, because the free donuts were far from the crowd favourite, and that's being kind. I mention that I also purchased product, so you know my review will be unbiased based on the free donuts. In this review I will address the location and donuts. The location itself: horrible spot. There is no parking. It's next to Coco's and they should follow suit in having a section coned off for people to temporarily park to pick up the donuts. Unfortunately there is no such place, and you have to loop to find parking, and you better be able to street park because that's the only option. The interior is dark and gives off moody and broody vibes. I wouldn't expect donuts to come from this location and honestly if they put tables inside I wouldn't stay to eat. Right now it is take out only. The staff was fine, they were moving the line along quickly and were polite. There was a lot of foot traffic when I was there (around 12:30 on a Wednesday). I didn't have to wait long, but I also had preordered my donuts. They have a little board on the floor with the flavours of the day, a bigger sign would be nice, but they also post on FB so it wasn't a big deal for me. Donuts: Overall these donuts were good, but a little one note. And that note was sugar. Was it worth $3 a donut? No. Maybe $1.50, I get that they are vegan, but $18 for 6 donuts is a lot. (Again I only paid for 4 of them). I purchased the Maple butter pecan, Sweet potato, Pistachio, and Brown butter chocolate chip cookie. I got the chai sugar and powdered for free. Honestly I wouldn't waste my money on the chai or powdered sugar. The chai wasn't very flavourful, it was really just a sugar donut. The powdered sugar was a mixed bag from my family. I personally didn't like it because it's just powdered sugar flavour, but others liked it because it showcased the donut itself more. The pistachio and pecan ones were average, the pistachio was a little lacking in pistachio flavour. The sweet potato was the most distinct, it felt like eating a slice of sweet potato pie that is heavy on the spices. It was good and I would say to get it because it's fun and seasonal. Overall these donuts were sickeningly sweet. The donut itself was a great texture and flavour, but all of the toppings and glazes were way too sweet, and that's coming from someone who has a large sweet tooth. The brown butter chocolate chip cookie is the only one that is worth paying $3 for. It's very sweet, but you would expect it to be, it's a donut covered in cookies. I ate a quarter of every donut, and that felt like the perfect amount. For me, they are way too large for the amount of sugar in it. I could not imagine being able to eat a whole donut. I wish this place offered a plain donut, or a cinnamon donut. Something that isn't as sweet, because the donut itself is the star of the show. I can't emphasize enough how great the mouth-feel and taste was. If you are a vegan looking for some amazing donuts, this is the place. But if you don't have dietaey restrictions, I would recommend getting a donut to split with a friend. It's a nice sweet treat, so go here when your sweet tooth has you crazing sugar

Update: Mission accomplished! I arrived at 10:02AM to find 8 people in line. Donuts were awesome. My fave was blackberry mint mojito... both taste and presentation. I don't know if I was imagining mint flavor infused in the cake part of the donut but it seemed so. Had a taste of chocolate, cookies and cream and strawberry. Of those strawberry my fave. I meant to get a "sexual chocolate" which appears to be chocolate w oreo crumble...next time. Initial review: Didn't actually get a donut, because they were sold out well before noon, and on Sundays they open at 10. The donuts are surely awesome...will try them, then update. Got there about noon to be greeted with the bad news and some cinnamon rolls that looked a little burnt on the counter, and no donuts to be had, despite that fact the shop closed at 3 that day. The cinnamon rolls looked a little crusty...she offered to put some red velvet donut glaze on them. I called on the way to verify they that they were in fact open, since the Federal Hill location is not yet...wish she'd have told me they were sold out of donuts and saved me 20 min each way. What the woman at the counter did tell me is that on weekends there's a line waiting when the doors open and the donuts are often gone not long after 11AM . I'll try and get there earlier next time. A thought...if people are still coming for $5 donuts and they sell out, bake more...just saying. Will update with details once I successfully sample these apparently otherworldly donuts.

Stopped in for the first time today when the store first opened and the line had already started forming! We had vegan donuts previously and were excited to try the wild flavors that Cloudy offers. We got a half dozen so the flavors we grabbed were: white chocolate macadamia, sweet potato, peanut butter cookie, bananas foster, blackberry mojito and chai sugar. They were all so pillowy soft and not overly sweet. My wife normally doesn't like nuts but enjoyed the macadamia(as we all did), sweet potato was like I was eating Grandma's pie -so delish, the pb cookie was nuttier than the macadamia nut my favorite out of the 6 that we got, bananas foster was 2nd for me, blackberry mojito had a fresh mint leaf on top which I would suggest tearing up and spreading over the whole donut and the chai sugar seems like it is such a basic donut but omg it's so tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed the music they had playing as I don't know many that would be playing Mo Money mo Problems lol. These are gourmet, small batch donuts so they are a bit costly, we paid $30 for the half dozen. Parking was not an issue as there was an abandoned lot across the street.

My experience with this donut shop was ok on past but last visits weren’t great at all. Bad customer service and some were salty & uncooked donuts in the box!

At the end of 2020 I’ve showed up to pick up my donuts at 9.30 am (pick up time I was communicated when I pre-ordered over the phone) and the doors was still closed...they said they open @ 10 am and they weren’t sure who told me that I could come earlier.

Last weekend, I’ve received a message that the owner wants to give the customers appreciation donut box. The message didn’t say how many and it’s a 30 min drive for me. So I figured, I order extra ones and go pick them up. I was told it was 3 free donuts and I ordered extra 7...to make 10 total. I was told to come on Sunday @ 11am.

When Sunday came, I figured, I’ll come around midday to make sure my order was ready. I came at 12.30 pm and the sales person said my order is not ready till 2 pm!!!!! I was specifically told to come at 11 am! I said let me cancel if the order is NOT ready because I’m not waiting in the car for 1.5 hrs and I live too far to go and come back. The salesperson talked to the kitchen and said they could do 1 pm.

I waited in the car for 30 min and went back to the store. I was handed a box and when I checked, there were 9 donuts instead of 10!! I asked where is the 10th one, I was told that they ran out of free donuts....instead of 3 free ones I’m getting 2 ones. I was counting for the number of people I was sharing the donuts with, so I needed 10! I said let me pay for an extra....they said there is NO extras even to buy & I’m welcome to come next week to pick up a free donut they were not able to provide.

I’m not a confrontational person, I left unhappy, I was sitting there for 30 min in the car waiting for the order when it should have been ready AND I was short on my order!

Well, when I brought the donuts to my family, my kids were super excited. My son grabbed a sugar donut and a min later came back saying it tastes horrible!!!! I didn’t believe him, he is 8....but I tried it and it was SALTY on the top and semi-raw/uncooked in the center!!!!! I had to sugar donuts....I tried the second one and it was fine. Then I was sharing a s’mores donut with my husband and it was also uncooked in the middle.

I will not be coming back to this donut shop again. It’s a shame because in past when it was a different company name it was better and at times I was able to get some at their sister restaurant Home Maid...

I used to love this place, truly. But ever since opening their NYC location, the MD ones have kinds taken a nose dive.

They turned their original social media page on instagram to NY only and I had no idea until I found a tiny sentence about it. They pushed their MD flavors to another page. Very strange -- most of your following started in the DMV, it should be obvious that you make a new NYC page instead??? They also seem to focus more on their NY location for new amazing flavors and I haven't seen much of anything new here. It's so weird to me -- I'm pretty sure you guys started in the DMV area, focus on your community that maybe supported you from the get-go? Feeling like the unwanted step sibling now.

Especially because the quality just isn't the same. I have had boston cream donuts missing the custard, no joke, 6 times. One time was for replacement donuts that I asked for, because the first boston cream was bone dry! I kept foolishly getting them because they were my fave the first time I had them but at this point you can get more boston cream from Krispy Kreme or Dunkin. The quality of all of their donuts isn't consistent. One week they're great and the next, very greasy. Only reason I'm giving two stars and not one stars is when the donuts are good, they're GOOD. The pistachio donuts and the fall flavors have me by my throat.

Prices were also raised to 5 bucks a donut and they implemented a donut purchase minimum which is insanity. This place just isn't like it used to be. I was so excited to support a black owned donut business but it's obvious their focus is NYC and not the DMV, especially with frequent poor customer service being the final nail in the coffin. Go to Charlsie's in Catonsville if you want exciting pastries and good cronuts, brioche...
