Donna's has decent food and friendly barmaids, and occasional decent bands. The main complaint I have about it is it's generally very cold inside. I don't know if they keep the heat down to conserve or if something is wrong with the heat, but I was there last weekend and didn't even take my coat off. Everyone else at our table were also cold. They have a fireplace but I've never seen it on. Wouldn't this help with the heat issue? I was there again more recently (June 8, 2019) and there was a new barmaid. I have to say she didn't seem to care a lot about customer satisfaction. In the past, Donna's has misplaced my "wing club" card a few times, but the usual barmaids will mark it down so that I will get credit. This particular barmaid spent a long time looking through the book, and could not find it. I asked her how this kept happening, and she just shrugged and said she wasn't the person to talk to about it. Luckily, one of the regular barmaids came in while we were still there and found it in the same book. ????? Can this girl not read/spell or what? Incidentally, I heard someone else say something negative about the same barmaid. On a side note, don't ever order the hickory, bacon, and onion wings. They tasted HORRIBLE-very sour, left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, and that was all 4 of the people in my party's opinion.
So now it's roughly 3 years later, and I have amend my review of Donna's. This place has seriously gone downhill. Not sure what's going on, but the food is no longer any good, and we were there recently, and it took over an hour to get a cheese steak sub and a meatball sub. My husband ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and it was $9. Totally ridiculous, and to make it worse, they bowl was only half full. (Apparently they don't even have the sense to put it in a smaller bowl to at least make it look like you're getting your money's worth. They discontinued their wing club, which stinks. None of the previous barmaids work there any longer, and they were both good. I know that one of them was planning on buying it at one point and the plans fell through. The barmaids they have now are pretty lacking. Used to enjoy going there occasionally, but the music they have isn't even that great, so what's the point? I think that Donna needs to seriously step up and figure out something if she wants to save her bar. She probably shouldn't have reneged on her agreement with the barmaid who wanted to take it over. I think it may have been a...
Read moreThis place has gotten progressively weirder as the years pass. They seem to run great specials or events but when you arrive, the entertainment is either late or lacking. But the worst issue here is the service. There is one nice older lady who does a great job, if she is your waitress everything is fine. However if you get anyone else, you either will wait forever to get service, or get none at all. They give the feeling that you are bothering them, they don’t seem to be aware that they are a restaurant. There will be no customers at all, yet no one will be doing anything but standing behind the bar. They no longer serve drinks in glasses or cups unless you are favored, which means no refills. Just cans. And to make matters worse they run your card after every part of ordering. Drinks-run the card, appetizer-run the card…until you get you get your card locked. It’s bizarre. And they don’t tell you this before you sit. Long story short go somewhere that makes sense. Much better places in dundalk with friendly waitresses, normal restaurant practices like taking your order, bringing you menus, serving you food, bringing you a bill at the end, and most importantly, other customers around. All this place needs to do is run like a normal restaurant and hire experienced waitresses and it would be fine. The food is good. Restaurant is nice. It’s a shame to lose customers over bizarre practices...
Read moreI been in here few other times but last Friday 01.11 was the worse. First my friend order food and then I was trying to order food too but I don't know that apparently they don't serve at the tables and you have to walk to the bar and order there. My friend was trying to order for me and I guess the bartender heard that but when I was trying to tell her the flavor of the wings my friend was ordering she told to a Costumer (her friend) to take my order because she was dealing with few other payments from Bar customers but I repeat her friend that the food that my friend was ordering is the same one I was talking about I was just telling her the flavor of the wings basically I repeated 3 times but still get it wrong they ordered the food twice and we deal with it we let it go but after that the Bar was empty at that point and if we want any drinks we still walking from the table to the bar and ask for a drink to the bartender which she was busy ON HER PHONE CAN'T CHECK ON US. but we did it 2 different times. After that on steam shrimp that we ordered they put Salsa instead of cocktail sauce but again nobody checked on us we have to walk to the bar and interrupt the bartender on her phone and ask for cocktail sauce. This is ridiculous after been there couple times before and it was ok. Now after this situation I will choice to different places before considering going back...
