I'm revising my review, after visiting last night for the Good Love Bar reunion. I haven't seen some of these people for twenty or more years, and they were all great.

Now comes what's not so great...

Your people are awful. I bought a bottle of wine for $48, and you automatically added gratuity (w/ tax = $62.50)--DUMB. Furthermore, it took the bartenders 30-plus-minutes to print my check, so we leave the bar debacle to socialize with our friends for a few minutes, and your bartender throws the rest of our wine away. We bring this to their attention and they look at us like we're lying.

  • NEWS FLASH * THE WINE SUCKED, AND WE'RE JUST SUPPORTING YOUR SMALL BUSINESS (exactly the way we supported your spot when I lived in the area). Nevertheless, your bartenders, who clearly srewed-up, offer to give us an already opened bottle of the same wine, which we reluctantly accepted.

I reopen a tab to cover some drinks for any friends that we meet. Drinks were ordered. Check was asked for; still yet, we still have half of the wine left in the "new/old" bottle.

I asked the bartenders if they could put the wine-saver stopper back in the bottle for us. I offer to pay $5 for the stopper, and to pay a 125% tip on a $35 check. I just need my problem solved, and I like to solve problems (whenever possible) with generosity.

The bartenders gave me a dirty cork off of the bar, and said they couldn't accommodate us because it's not their bar.

This is so bad that I have never heard my partner, since 2014, say the words "DON'T...

I love this place. Fadensonnen is kind of a garden of delights, with a varied drinks menu of beer, natural wine, sake, unusual spirits, plus a small but extraordinary array of things to eat. What stands out is how alive everything is, all presenting unusual flavors and full of soft surprises with each taste -- somehow fitting both comfort- and novelty-seekers. The atmosphere is exquisite and strikes that same balance of familiar but transporting, both in the downstairs taproom (more beer centric) and upstairs wine/sake bar. My favorite spot is the upstairs corner table, sitting facing the entire room -- somehow the proportions and lines and stark beauty of the space feel out of a dream, I just love it. A perfect spot for good conversation and peeling back the layers. Foodwise, the misozuke tofu is one of the best interesting vegan nibbles you will ever find, and the mushroom pate is amazing (such savory depth, nice herbiness, rich but not palate-deadeningly fatty at all like these things can sometimes be) -- fellow vegetarians rejoice! Note that there isn't a full menu, just a thoughtful selection of substantial small plates to enjoy alongside a glass of something...

I am in love with Fadensonnen! It’s only been around for a month or two and I’ve been there probably 10 times! The price to quality ratio on the glasses of wine is unheard of anywhere, I am unsure how they even make money on it. All the by the glass selection is priced equally at $11, and they were pouring a bottle that sells for well over $50 for that price (Susucaru) (but that was just a lucky night I guess)! The selection is so thought out and the staff is immensely knowledgeable. The sake selection is unmatched in Baltimore. The beer selection is also quite perfect, from immensely high quality lagers to weird and outlandish living beers to match the living wine they serve both up and downstairs. I have gone so many times and imagine myself going regularly there for quite a while. And while the food options are more bite sized morsels, that are perfect for snacking on while drinking, the bread, that a lot of the food comes with/on, is otherworldly. That Russel sure knows how to make a godly loaf of bread! Fadensonnen, don’t change a thing! Your delicious, weird, eclectic in a way only you can be, approachable, knowledgeable, you take me on a journey,...

Fadensonnen is in a food complex called Socle in Baltimore's historic Old Goucher neighborhood. It's a wine/sake bar on the second level and a biergarten outside that opens at 5pm. Here's why you should make it a must-visit while in Baltimore: 1) Space: The owner is nearby Bar Clavel's Lane Harlan, so you know it will be beautiful. It's a minimalistic bar with wood floors, a small bar, a few tables, and one large wooden community table. The simple design is stunning. 2) Drinks: The wine list is solid and even has an orange wine on the menu that is tasty. They sell sake and a few cocktails. I ordered the peach and cardamon spritz. It was refreshing! 3) Food: Their small plates are excellent. The larder pickles for $4 are among the best pickled vegetables I've ever had. The mushroom tartine was well made and the sobrasada (spreadable pork salumi, labneh, apricot marmalade) with warm sourdough bread was out of this world. If you're a foodie, make Fadensonnen one of your stops. I'd drive up from D.C. any day of the week to dine here!

I read an article about this place that made it seem really cool. We sat in the upper section which had a cozy feel. The service was very slow and we got conflicting info about whether we had to order at the bar or from the table, but everyone was very nice. The drink selection is kinda small and mediocre. We ordered a few small plates from the top floor. One of them was the figs with amaro, but they only had one fig left and told us it would be on the house; afterwards we looked at the receipt and we were still charged $10 for the amaro even though it was about a tablespoon in two tiny cups and was supposed to be included with the fig plate of $14. EDIT to FS MGMT: Thank you for the info about Larder; I have removed that sentence and posted a review of them separately.

There is a lot going on here. Inside bar, upstairs bar, outside beer garden, food trucks, etc. All of it is great. I personally love the outside beer garden. Baltimore, in general, needs more outside space to drink, eat, and socialize. This is a spectacular spot for that. I expect to be back for epic beer garden hangs this summer! I will say I didn't have any of the in house food, so I can't speak to that. Also, I understand that some of the prices are high. That being said many of the items that are high priced aren't out of line with the same items at other bars. I do agree that a few more inexpensive beers or wines could always be welcome. And when we were there I think there were 3 or 4 five dollar drafts which isn't bad.
