Accessibility Review
I visited this place in a wheelchair to see a band play. Here is what you need to know.
The online ticket vendor offers accessibility seating, but it’s actually general admission. Don’t waste your time trying to get special seating. The parking pass that you purchase online with your tickets is for the parking garage next door. The parking garage does NOT have handicap parking or elevators. However, after talking to the attendant, he let us park in a reserved spot near the entrance. I was in a car, not a van, since I have some mobility, and I can get into my wheelchair. You would need two spots for a van, or else you would need to unload and then park. I don’t know if there are times when those reserved spots are full, or if they are always available. That said, parking was the most difficult part of my visit.
There are no automatic doors, but the door attendant opened the door for me. I was able to get to and use the restroom, but my caregiver had to help me open the door.
As for the show itself, I spent most of my time on the left hand side near the front of the stage but off to the side a bit, which put me out of the main crowd and away from the direct blast of the smoke machine. I could see all the musicians but the drummer. Most people respected me and tried not to block my view, however, there were a few people(some oblivious, some just rude) who decided the open spot in front of me was the perfect place for them to stand, forcing me to reposition. As it was, I was able to see most of the show. The show I attended, however, was not at capacity, which allowed me to reposition as needed. This would have been easier if a tall table and bar stools were located elsewhere, as they were impossible to see around. I did have a good time, and if you are considering whether or not to see a show here in a wheelchair, unless the place is wall to wall packed, you...
Read moreI saw a hardcore metal show here. I was a little apprehensive of the location but the surrounding area is actually not that bad, at least during the day. The outside of the building looks run down and it’s blacked out all around. We parked in a parking lot attached to the venue which is huge in the city. There’s also a large parking garage next to the venue too.
The doors opened right when they were supposed to and the staff was friendly and quick to scan our tickets and wrist band us after checking ID for 21+.
The venue itself is quite small (probably 200 people max, and it would be cramped). The stage is immediately to the left as you walk in. The sound system was great. There’s also a bar with several canned beer options as well as several spirits to make cocktails with. There were two bartenders working and both seemed quick and friendly.
There were two single use gender neutral bathrooms which definitely helped move the bathroom line. There was space for all four bands to set up merch tables and didn’t take up room away from concert goers.
There were posters for upcoming shows around too which I thought was cool.
You can tell whoever owns this place cares and takes care of it. I think the service and venue was great and I’d highly recommend going to see...
Read moreJust went to our second show there in 2 months last night. Both times were great. My son and I go to metal shows every month and Metro has grown to be one of our favorite spots. It's the smallest place we've been to but that's how we like it. We post up by the window right next to the stage. Puts us within feet of the pit so we can jump right in when one breaks out. The small size makes it personal and we love that.
The staff is super chill and the crowd is always really cool. Sound quality is great. The bar is canned beers and mixed drinks (I don't personally partake since I'm driving with my son) but it seems to satisfy those who do. They also post up water coolers which is great because this place gets HOT once the pits start up. A ceiling fan or two wouldn't hurt but honestly the sweat adds to the charm, my son and I always leave soaked!
2 bathrooms in the back and half of the space is dedicated to merch tables and more standing room.
Metro seems to host a wide variety of artists but if you are into underground death metal and enjoy small, personal venues with cool staff and a rad crowd this is the place for you! We already have tickets to return...
