Second visit here- I got the tomato salad and added salmon. The salmon was good and cooked well but unfortunately the tomatoes were very cold and flavorless. You’re not supposed to refrigerate tomatoes. For it being a tomato salad the tomatoes are the focus and these were bad, mushy and flavorless. My boyfriend and I had an early dinner here on Saturday. They weren’t overly busy so there was no wait. I like the look of the place. We started with drinks. I got the brown sugar Manhattan. It was okay. It didn’t have much brown sugar flavor to me. He got the rye street which was really good. I’d get that one again. Fried oysters appetizer was pretty good. No complaints. The red wine short rib with mashed potatoes was tender but not juicy and not very flavorful. It was fine but I wouldn’t get again. The seared tuna was good but plain. We liked the sauce that came with it. I always get fries from places and these fries were fine. Not great but not the worst I’ve had. The red velvet cake wasn’t good. It was a strangely dense texture and pretty dry. The frosting was also very stiff. The cold brew float was good. They only had chocolate ice cream which was fine with me. It made it like a mocha. But it was mostly just ice cream after a couple minutes and the coffee flavor was lost. The ice cream helped us eat more of the cake though. The server was nice. No problems with the service. I think if I go back I’d try a burger. But nothing this time wowed me. Kind of wish I had tried the cookies rather than what we got for dessert. Went again to try the burger and needed somewhere open past 9. The bun was hard so I just ate the patty. They were cleaning, mopping, taking trash out, all around us at only 8:45 which was distracting. Probably won’t be back. Food isn’t worth it. Quality isn’t there. I know this part isn’t their fault but we were sat right between a loud birthday celebration and another table with a newborn. Meh.

Visiting for first time at 5PM on a H-O-T weekday in August. They have probably 10 parking spots available (all were gone by 6) and indoor and outdoor seating (with umbrellas overlooking the parking lot). We had a 5:30 outdoor reservation and arrived early so sat at the bar and had some of their Happy Hour ($5 small watermelon margaritas and $22 for a small pitcher of Blackberry Plum Sangria...served about 3.5 glasses...and the $5 "snack" which was 3 bites of grilled beef (on sticks) with roasted red pepper sauce). All was very tasty and well prepared, and they had a lot of staff around that were helpful and friendly. All COVID safe and being followed by everyone we saw. The interior is nicely decorated and rustic but also really dark, kind of like a basement or pub. So, we abandoned the glorious A/C for our outdoor table which was very nice and great while the breeze was blowing through....but when it died, was like eating in a sauna with all of us mopping sweat with our napkins (darn you nature, not the restaurant's fault!). Basket of bread/ butter upon seating (one piece each). The cornmeal oysters were delicious, the old bay chips were underwhelming..........the menu in general ($17 hamburger and fries plus $2 for bacon) seems a little more standard fare and tilted toward casual and sandwiches than we were expecting. Sandwiches well prepared and nice portion with sides of tasty fries. Cookies for $3.50 and the Mocha was by far and away the best, like a moist gooey brownie cookie. Overall we had a nice dinner - probably wouldn't do outdoor again unless 80 degrees or under outside, could use a little more local or unique variety on the menu, but what they have, they prepare well.

This was my first experience. I went with my sister and two friends. The atmosphere was lovely, but it was so dimly lit in there. You can barely see the menus. I think they were going for intimate type vibe but just a little bit more light would’ve been nice. What yall hiding in there 👀? Just kidding. Anyways, our servers were awesome though and we even had other servers check in on us and give us recommendations. We went for restaurant week. I put a picture below of the deal. The cocktail of the mouth was really good. It was a captain Morgan based drink. The calamari was disappointing. It was called crispy calamari, but was not crispy at all. The short rib was good and so was the blueberry cheesecake. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the proportions. I get that it is restaurant week, but it felt like the proportions were kid sized. Overall, we did enjoy ourselves and I would go back again to try the food outside of restaurant week.

Service was generally pretty good. We were never checked in on about refilling our water or coffee. We had to flag down the waitress in order to get black pepper added to our food. The two fried eggs and grits dish with diced ham that we got was more or less, Flavorless. the grits were undercooked and kind of crunchy. needed salt and pepper to be passable. The cheeseburger was requested to have American cheese, cheddar was used instead. The general texture of the cheeseburger was mostly mush - the tomatoes, caramelized onions and aioli on top of kind of a crumbly Kaiser style roll didn't really provide any source of crunch or freshness because there was no lettuce or any cold vegetables on the sandwich. The patty itself was cooked perfectly at a medium rare but other than that was basically flavorless did not have any garlic powder, salt, pepper, anything within the actual body of the patty to give it any flavor. It was just cooked beef. The french fries were delicious. They forgot avocado on our BLT sandwich and I had asked for a Coca-Cola to be served with our meal that required a reminder which took a few minutes. upon departure, Three staff members including the hostess were seen having a conversation at the front desk. No one acknowledged any member of our party and said goodbye, Have a nice day or thank you for coming. our daughter ordered French toast that was listed to come with a strawberry in vanilla syrup or reduction. The strawberries were mushy and had a very odd flavor. They looked visibly unfresh and their texture again was mush. It was mush on mush. The move with the french toast would be to have fresh strawberries on top and then drizzle some sort of strawberry vanilla reduction or compote on top of it with maybe some chiffon mint. The whip cream was good. My daughter ate roughly 2/3 of the french toast and immediately felt sick/uncomfortable she had eaten one strawberry. Probably won't be back 2 out of 5 stars The atmosphere is excellent. The location isn't bad if these guys fix their menu and made a couple changes to some of their selections, namely the cheeseburger. They need to flavor the beef and they need to include some other textures on the sandwich other than just tomatoes and onions that are both kind of hot and mushy. The sandwich was a very messy by the way, but if they made a couple changes they can turn the thing around...

My recent experience at Johnny's on April 19th left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Not only did I endure an allergic reaction due to the negligent handling of allergen information by the staff, but the subsequent communication and response from management were equally disappointing.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the waitress with minimal attention and had to inquire about happy hour specials myself. After placing my order, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Our waitress, Elizabeth W., carelessly placed a bread basket on our table without any mention of its contents or consideration for dietary restrictions or allergies. It was only after I had consumed a slice that she casually mentioned it contained walnuts.

To my horror, this negligent oversight triggered an allergic reaction, putting my life at risk and causing me considerable distress and inconvenience. Despite a colleague's urgent request for antihistamines, Elizabeth's response lacked empathy, follow-up assistance, or even a simple apology.

After my initial email detailing the incident to Kia Epps, a manager, went unanswered for days, I had to resort to sending it to the general restaurant email. Instead of a prompt and sincere response addressing the gravity of the situation, I was merely offered a return visit for a meal and a complimentary bottle of wine.

However, upon asking for confirmation, I discovered that the meal was not complimentary as initially implied. The offer extended only to the bottle of wine, which, given the circumstances, held no appeal to me whatsoever. The restaurant's attempt to rectify their egregious error was both cheap and insincere.

Asking me to return and pay for an entire meal is not an olive branch or generous in any way. The fact that they essentially put my life at risk and only offered a simple apology and a bottle of wine is appalling.

This entire ordeal underscores a concerning lack of accountability, communication, and genuine concern for customer safety at Johnny's. For such a dangerous and egregious error, their response was not only inadequate but also reflected a disturbing lack of empathy and professionalism.

I urge prospective patrons to think twice before dining at Johnny's. The combination of negligence, poor communication, and insincere apologies make it an establishment unworthy of your time...

Visited 4.1.2021

So today I visit in the afternoon after not visiting for about 2 years. I came in on this day because it was my friend's birthday and she really wanted to come here. Last couple times I visited the menu was quite limited. Well, the menu is nice and full these days. There were so many options to pick from that it took me a while to make a selection.

Oh wait, let me start by saying, when I first entered the young lady knew exactly who I was and acknowledged that I was there for my friend's birthday as stated on the reservation previously submitted. ... Somehow my table person didn't know and asked what brought us in.

Moving on, let's order! Beverage... perhaps. When we were first seated, we were given food menus and a beverage menu. I noticed the menu for beverages only had alcoholic beverages so I inquired about the hot beverage of the week/month. I know on their Instagram site, they're notorious for showing off visually appealing non alcoholic beverages that are either seasonal or limited edition. I asked our table person Gabriela what was the current limited edition drink and she said it was a "Cardi B something". She then went on to say it has Chardamon in it and she's unsure of what else is it. Well, I can't order something that I don't know what's in it. Although there's a Starbucks down the street, I would have loved to purchase my hot beverage from the same place I purchased my hot food from but ok. Crazy enough she came back to ask me if I wanted to purchase a drink I couldn't think of a nice way to say what the hell is in it.

  • le sigh *

Food I ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich and swapped out the mayo for a sriracha that was very good. My friend ordered the Fish n Chips and she enjoyed it. She swapped out her chips for green beans.

After placing the food orders, we noticed we didn't have straws for water. We had to wait the entire time that we waited for food to get straws for our water. So we waited and waited and waited. 15 minutes later here comes Gabby. Let's get some straws. My food was picture perfect but the chicken itself had no seasoning. Thank goodness for the sriracha sauce. I'm thankful my friend enjoyed since it was...
