AMAZING. I got the Scooch and am still pining over it several hours later; I could eat those endlesly as if a goldfish. Also tried my friend's Sonny... the ingredients could've been a touch more plentiful, but it still tasted good and the focaccia bread was, in particular, very tasty.
They have cans of San Pellegrino & bottles of Sprecher's available, though with the latter: only cream soda & root beer where in stock. I mentioned the cherry cola, of which Sprecher's makes the BEST of its kind (good cream soda & only so-so root beer), and the staff seemed pretty excited to hear this- with any luck cherry cola will join the shelves. Staff, by the way, was great- sociable & friendly.
There are lots of pasta, sauces, desserts, and other ingredients for sale. Prices are quite reasonable. Near decent transit & parking.
In short: HIGHLY recommended. I've found a new favorite place...
Read moreI'm working my way through the menu items and thus far I have 2 Favorites (mind you I'm half way through menu)... The Scooch is one of the Best Authentic Italian Sandwiches going as far as flavor from fresh Italian Deli Meats and Cheese. At this time another impressive Italian Sandwich is their Italian Meatball. It's a must try with the Fresh Homemade Bread and Meatballs. These are like the ones Grandma used to make. Prices are reasonable because you have to figure they are using top quality meats homemade breads top-quality cheeses and not to mention that the service from the employees and staff there is always Top Notch Friendly Service. Only one small complaint... Wish they had longer hours so we could eat there more often and late night when the Munchies hit. LOL...
Hope your experience is as good as mine is...
Read moreDarn good italian subs with a bevy of classic and should-be-classic combinations. $9.50 for a sandwich might seem pricey but it's low-key the best deal on the Ave: each sandwich is good for two decent-sized meals. Don't be afraid to explore, either. Their housemade salads (pasta and otherwise) are a great treat, as are their sausage and meatball rolls (basically small strombolis). Finish it all off with a cannoli, filled to order as the Italian gods intended. Waiting for the weather to cool down enough so I can munch on the patio and watch the Ave bustle by. Missing that fifth star because the bread quality isn't consistent (too chewy sometimes) but...on second thought, I'll make it five, because when the bread is good, it's mind-blowing. When it's not, I just chase the dragon and visit again...
