First off, best homefries around. Deal woth it. Second... this isn't gonna be everyone's vibe, but I love this place. There is no pretense here. A bar, a grill, and some tables. I'm so relieved that they weathered the Covid storm and haven't changed a bit. It's not some "preserved" piece of the past, but proof that not everything needs to be an a bougie fusion restaurant and art gallery to survive. Just be simple, affordable, tasty, and above all, be consistent, and people will keep coming home.

Yeah, you might have to listen to an old white dude at the bar give a well-intentioned-but-misled rant about "woke" culture now and then, but you'll also usually find you're not the only one rolling your eyes, either. It's honestly refreshing to have some place in my life that's not just a carbon copy of my usual political "bubble." Everyone feels welcome at The Lunchbox and that's beautiful.

Today was my first time in this establishment. I was greeted by the lady who was taking orders; but realized I was the only African American there. Everyone looked at me crazy, but the host had small talk with me to break the ice. A patron that was in the store whispered to me you're the 3rd black person I've seen here since I've been coming here; I laughed it off & waited for my order. The cook a chinese man was very rude to the hostess; telling her to limit her conversation. Everyone else there already had there food. He kept mumbling and yelled you need to tell these people the complicated the order is the longer it will take. I looked around because Noone else was there ordering. Right in the middle of the restaurants in Hampden comes this classic diner type place for quick, well priced, and tasty food. Good quick service, nice staff and they talk normal to each other. A good no snobs, good tasting, coffee inducing place for the morning. Every time i have to go to Virginia from B-more, I eat and drink there, percs me right up.
